Re: What is the recommended doorbell chime to buy for a nest wired doorbell

Dear Forum,

This issue was locked even though I had replied to keep it open.  I guess my reply never reached the forum to keep it open. I  would still like to know (if one exists)what the recommended doorbell chime unit to purchase which will supply 8 to 24volts for a Nest battery doorbell to use in wired mode which will maintain the Nest battery charged?

I’m currently using a Byron 776 Doorbell chime which has a built in transformer and only supply’s 8volts and does not seem enough to maintain the Nest battery charge.

any help would be appreciated

regards

Kevin

I think Google need to have a recommendation especially as in my case where I want to maintain the charge of the battery without having to manually change the battery every few weeks. Note due to travel I personally cannot guarantee being at home to manually change the battery.
Even for the wired Nest hello Doorbell there seems to be only 8volt chimes available unless of course you purchase separate transformers to somehow connect up to existing doorbell chime units.

if anyone has the simplistic method to achieve the required voltage it would be much appreciated.

kevin

There is no recommended Chime Connector for the Nest Hello (battery) as it is built to mainly work with your cellular device, or a nest hub or other display/speaker. As for the issue with charging it regularly, you will need to manually change it when the battery gets low as it is not a self charging device. Please see this helpful article when charging your Nest Hello (battery) doorbell.

Please let me know if you need further assistnace.

Best Regards,

Brad.
