In case you have the 2nd gen wired, you may watch our video clip about "How to Set Up and Install Your Google Nest Doorbell (Wired)" and skip it to 8:22 to see the proper way on how to mount it to its mounting plate.

It’s not a wired unit. It was a battery powered unit I’ve had for almost 1 year at the time the issue arose. There was a little round button on the back that locks it into the mount that no longer pops up.
