Is it possible to order a replacement wall plate for my Nest Cam IQ Outdoor? We recently built and moved into a new home and took our Nest products with us. We have found all of the parts except for our wall plate for the IQ Outdoor; without it we can't mount the camera at all. Is there a way we can get back up and running?

Thanks!

Hi Nicholas,

To provide the best support with this, I've shared this with the Google Nest community team, who can check on possible options with you.

For those of you finding this thread, I was able to obtain a new mounting plate by contacting Google support. They were great to work with and my issue was resolved. Thanks!

I called them and got the weirdest answer ever - we do have the part but we will NOT send you or sell you a replacement because your Nest Cam IQ Outdoor is out of warranty.

I said that I do not expect it for free, under warranty, but as a paid out-of-warranty purchase/repair. The agent mumbled that the Google Nest policy is to not help customers after warranty expires which doesn't make sense in this case as they have tons of those wall kits in stock, the product is not for sale, and he wonders why they aren't getting rid of them, especially for people like me who need them and are ready to pay.

So, some dirty laundry here - I experienced the exact same thing. Even said the same - that I didn’t expect it for free, but that I had no other way to obtain it. However, I stated that the response was unacceptable, that I’ve been a Nest customer since the first thermostat and Protects, and that I would like to escalate to a supervisor. Yes, I went Karen (but politely), It was that escalation group that was happy to help after I explained that I did not appreciate having a multi-hundred-dollar paperweight.

I would recommend politely requesting escalation of your ticket and see if that gets you any progress. It is a bit ridiculous that they put us through this, and I hope you have better results.

I tried contacting Google support and just gave the same answer that it's out of warranty so they can't help. I have said many times I am ready to pay for it, since none of the local stores or any online stores have it. I now have a $400+ camera just sitting as paper weight.

buy one, don't open the box, call support and request a mount, then return the one you bought.  not really ethical, but i don't see another way around this

Not for sale anymore. That's the irony - Google keeps tons of parts for something they no longer sell but would not provide either free or paid post-warrany for those of us who need it, yet they'll sit on a stockpile of those parts for... well, I can't come up with a reason.... maybe to just show that they are now the Be Evil company?

Wow, in the same as everyone here. I had windows replacement, contractor misplaced the mount. They deducted 50 dollars to the bill. But now I can't find one. Currently have it ducktaped to the wall..

Update: I was able to get a replacement under warranty. I used the chat session in one app. They also was able to figure one my flood lights camera going offline. Good luck everyone.

My previous comment with links to purchase seems to have disappeared.  Using a ring-shaped neodymium magnet (available at online retailers) will hold the camera to any metal surface.  If you have the plastic base with the concave dimple in it, then that contains a magnet and can be mounted to any ferromagnetic surface.  You can easily buy metal plates to attach to walls where you can attach the base.  Good luck.  Let's hope this doesn't get deleted.

Thanks. Got it now. So how does this install inside a concrete wall?

why would you put a camera inside a wall?

If you have a metal surface and do not have the plastic mount with the concave dimple, then you can use the magnet between the camera and the metal surface.  The magnet replaces the plastic magnetic original mount but requires a metal surface to be attracted to.

If you do not have a metal surface, use the metal plates from amazon, either with this magnet or with the base with the concave dimple.
