Should it ring with button installed?

Hello,

i have an electric indoor doorbell triggered by outside NO contact. Press = ding, Release = Dong. In first step of electrical installation i need to install that 4 wire button thing into the indoor bell. Should i expect the outdoor button will work then? Because: it doesnt. No matter how i wire that adapter thingy, the chime is silent. Once removed, it works perfectly.

And i can not install the Hello/Doorbell outside w/o that button: The indoor bell is then very faint, or does not ring at all, and (whats worse) does make some electrical noise (50Hz humming which it doesnt do else).

Any ideas? Product is factory new…

Marc
