“Something went wrong” Nest Doorbell 2nd gen

Hello,

Spent the entire day attempting to install my Doorbell (wired 2nd Gen) and constantly keep getting “something went wrong” at the end of the setup. I’ve used many troubleshooting ideas from previous forums but to no avail. Would really like some help or advice on what to do. Thanks in advance.

Reset Router, Devices including doorbell itself. Established different lines of wifi on separate devices after resetting each time.

@ChrisKillian

What do you mean by "Established different lines of wifi on separate device"? Your Google Nest doorbell needs to be on the same Wi-Fi network as the phone you're using to set it up.

Tried it on 2.4, 5 and extenders wifi lines. All tried while phone was connected to respective ones.

If your internet is 5ghz then you won’t be able to reinstall. I’ve discovered that these cameras are only able to be installed on 2.4ghz internet. I’m having the same problem with two of my hardwired cameras. We got a new router that is 5ghz only and I tried to reinstall multiple times, doing the same troubleshooting things you did. My cameras are basically useless now since my router is not dual band, it’s 5ghz only.

That’s unfortunate. I do have dual band and tried it on both 2.4 and 5. At this point the camera is just a decor because I can’t do anything with it.

Something else is going on. We have no installation or access issues with a dual-band SSID with 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz, and have multiple older Google Nest cameras and doorbells, Nest Hubs, a Nest Hub Max, a Google Nest battery camera, and a 2nd gen indoor Google Nest camera.  We don't use Wi-Fi extenders.

We have other Google products in the house with no issues. And our previous home didn’t have issues either. Whatever is going on with this setup, is something I haven’t been able to figure out. We’ve never had to use wifi extenders before but I was giving it a try just in case that was the issue. The wifi doesn’t seem to be the problem.

Hi everybody,

@ChrisKillian, thanks for reaching out here in the Community. To confirm, what is the light status of your Nest Doorbell? How far away is your Nest Doorbell from your Wifi router? Could you share here the steps you've done to reset your Nest Doorbell? We'll wait for your response.

I appreciate the help, MplsCustomer and JB3872.

Regards,

Emerson
