Spotty reception

Does anyone else have issues with the google nest outdoor camera reception? Seems I'm always having to wait to see a picture and then 50% of the time it says there are issues with reception and perhaps its the battery. So I invested the 40 bucks to hardwire the thing. Was good for a couple weeks but now back to spotty reception again. So I decided perhaps its the wifi signal. So I bought a wifi extender at Costco. Made no difference. I have Cox internet and a fairly new Cable modem. Everything else in the house on wifi works fine. Is this thing really that crappy? Hard to believe Google Nest would put out such a bad product for more money than its competitors.

That doesn't sound right unless your WiFi signal is poor where the camera is located. We've had a Google Nest Camera (Battery) since September 2021, plugged in with the 10 meter power cable, and it's always "Live" if we check it in the Google Home app (or bring it up on our Nest Hubs).

If we unplug it and it's running on battery, the camera always shows as "Idle". The battery always shows as 100% but we can only see the battery level if we unplug it.

What you're experiencing doesn't seem normal. Maybe yours is defective. There are other posts in this forum where people have trouble keeping their cameras charged, due apparently to faulty cables. And there are some posts reporting that if the camera is running on battery it doesn't respond well to events because it has to wake up first.

Thanks but as I said the wifi signal is strong and I even bought a wifi extender from Costco which I will be returning. I have tried everything. Google chat support told me to reset to factory. Well I will try that tomorrow but don't have alot of faith. Even if that does work, How often am I going to have to do that?Getting out the ladder etc. I mean when I first hard wired it a couple weeks ago all was fine. Then went right back to the way it was when I first bought it. But I will try the reset. If that doesn't work I hope they will send me another as it was a Christmas present 😞
