Talk and Listen on Google nest Doorbell (battery) not working on Samsung S21 mobile

Having looked through all the community posts about this problem, I want to voice my own complaint about what seems to be a major problem. Like so many others, talk and listen just is not practical on a Samsung phone with the nest battery (albeit wired) doorbell, being far too faint for any caller to hear and accompanied by a dreadful echo. It has been asked many times, and no satisfactory answer has been forthcoming yet, as to when is Google going to correct this software issue? This bell was bought to enable me to guard my elderly relatives from unnecessary or potentially harmful callers. I now find I wasted my money! As a committed Google user previously, I am  annoyed that a good camera is rendered useless by this fault. When will there be a solution forthcoming please?

I too am feeling very let down. I just purchased the Google Nest Doorbell (Battery) just to find a long known issue hasn't been fixed. No warnings from Google in any pre sales info.... Very bad form for an important feature. What else is Google hiding from unsuspecting purchasers.... and not fixing?

Hi there,

I apologize for my late response and thank you for all of your patience while waiting for a reply. I can definitely understand how frustrating your situation must be, but I wanted to make sure that your issue was addressed. Do you still need help with this issue? I know that there's been a delay in response since you posted.

Please let me know if you need further assistance.

Best Regards,

Brad.

Given that so many others are having the same problem, I'm not optimistic about finding a quick fix, but it will be great if you can help. I have a Samsung S20 and can't make my voice heard at the Doorbell Nest (battery). I've checked that microphone permissions are allowed and camera audio volume is at tthe max, but no success. I've even tried different network connections. Video quality is great. The chimes and automated sounds come through the doorbell: just no voice. I hope you can help.

I am sorry to hear that you are still having these issues! Have you checked out our Troubleshooting Guide on camera audio issues? I would suggest you check it out and see if that helps.

Best regards,

Brad.

Yes, I'd already worked through this guide.  Unfortunately it keeps referring to the Nest App. The Nest app won't load on the Samsung S20, so Google Home is what I have to use. If I try and force an install of Nest, it just redirects back to Google Home. Whether using Google Home (instead of Nest) is part of the issue, I don't know, but there's no choice. In any case, I've checked the equivalent settings in Google Home, but still no go.

Your Nest Doorbell Battery is not available in the Nest App, which is why you cannot find it there. It is exclusive to the Google Home app.

Best regards,

Brad.

Having the same issue. Turns out it's a known fault that Google are turning a blind eye on. I'm considering legal action to get the screw holes that have now been left in my door repaired by Google after they sold me a product they knew had compatibility issues with one of the world's most popular mobile phone brands.

After I spent a lot of time on chat with Google techos it was escallated. A few days later I received a message saying it it is recognised as a problem and it should be fixed in some future update. Really? I'm not sure if that was meant to fill me with confidence... It didn't. In fact I've now lost all confidence in Google products and especially their customer focus. This fault has been raised on various blogs etc for so long and is clearly widespread. I can't fathom why it still hasn't been fixed. It seems people contemplating purchasing Google products need to be very wary, as I will be. Suddenly other brands seem a lot more attractive.
