The pit of despair between the Google Home and Nest apps that Google has left us in to rot.

Hi, I currently have several Nest branded cameras and doorbells installed around my home.

I recently added the new Nest Cam with Floorlight (note, NEST branded cam w/ floodlight).

All of my old cameras were visible in both the nest app (feature rich, responsive, awesome) but the new floodlight camera is stuck in the Google Home app only (apparently by design).

I don't really have a question, as I understand that Google has launched these products in the midst of an incomplete app migration and wanted to state the following:

To google: I've advocated for your products over the competition for years and you've made me look quite the fool. The incompatibility of a NEST camera to the NEST app is pathetic. You should feel humiliated as you've fallen so drastically short of a competent product that the name Google will forever be associated with Failure. In short, it is clear that your nest/google home teams have absolutely no idea what they're doing and have absolutely no interest in customer satisfaction. If I hadn't already (semi-permanently) installed nest cameras all over the house, I'd switch brands immediately. I am eating my words among all my friends and colleagues. "Yes I told you google/nest was the best. I could not have been more wrong." DO BETTER.

To other users with this shared frustration: No you're not doing anything wrong. No there isn't a setup step you missed. New Nest products simply are not compatible with the Nest app. Asinine, I know. If you haven't yet drilled holes in your home to mount these products (or if you're using the battery powered devices) return them ASAP.

Hey Alexa, you wouldn't do me like this would you?

What do you have to say about it @Brad

Sincerely, disappointed.

Okay, I thought it was me being incompetent. I've been fighting it for two days and the Nest cam is going back to Lowe's tomorrow. All I wanted was a camera pointed at the front of the house so I can see when the mailman comes or if someone is in the driveway. You would think you could just buy a camera and plug it in. This is Google after all with more power and money than God. After a dozen Youtube videos though with intricate details on how to screw it to a wall and every other obvious function, nothing on software that doesn't work.

yep, it isn't you. its an intentional, mandatory migration - forced before it was ready.

Me too - and I am posting this to whatever post I see that is having the same issue as myself......maybe Google will get the hint.....highly doubtful but I have to vent somewhere!!

I have NUMEROUS NEST products and added the floodlight camera for our barn and found out after installation you have to use Google Home........ which is awful!!! I bought this to use with NEST!

Ridiculous that I have to have a separate app for 1 product and I can't even just view what's happening when opening the app without additional clicks to open the camera.

May sound trivial to some but being able to see ALL my cameras/detectors/doorbells etc on one page was the entire draw for me.

Super disappointed in this, why change something that worked???

I am trying to see if the latest product I purchased can be returned after installation as I am NOT a happy camper AT ALL = (

Hey folks,

Thank you for your feedback on this issue, I fully understand the frustrations of not having your new Nest Cams in the Nest App or available on https://bit.ly/3HtBgJC web app. I can imagine having to use two different apps at the moment is quite daunting, and could lead to frustration.

However, the new Nest cameras and doorbell are exclusive to the Home app because we wanted to create an integrated experience with your speakers and displays. A Nest Aware subscription applies to all of your cameras, speakers, and displays in the same home structure. Thank you for your continued patience, and support. I am more than happy to assist you further with this inquiry if you wish. Please let me know.

Best Regards,

Brad.

Google being Google. https://killedbygoogle.com/  Our latest headache is activating Nest Aware...via the Nest app of course. We were notified that the free trial period for Aware-level recording access was still in effect and that the Nest Aware subscription would start after that. Guess what? We now have the rolling three hour limit for our Nest devices. I've experienced much frustration as Google shuffles around its products and apps. I'm still baffled by the conlfusing Hangouts transition.

In case you haven't seen it elsewhere, the Nest app is to be offed in 2022, with Home picking up its functions. The bugs and confusion are fallout from this grand plan.

yes, I read about that in the blog post from Google's GM. The fact remains that nest products are being sold without nest functionality or support. This is blatant false advertising. IF the feature set of nest is truly ported to the Home app, we will finally have the product we paid for. I'm not holding my breath.
