There’s not a way to add the new Nest Camera (battery) to the Nest app? Only the home app?

I want to add my new camera to my Nest app rather than only being able to connect to it through the Home app. I haven’t found a way to do that. If that’s not possible I want to return it.

Hi Jessica, 
 
The new Nest Doorbell Battery and Nest Cam Battery are only compatible with the Google Home app. 
 
From the Google Home app you will have full control over the device, and will also be able to view the live streams and events from any older Nest Cameras that you may have. Google has committed to bringing more features for the older cameras to the Google Home app, although I am afraid there is no timeline for this at present. 
 
If the device was purchased from the Google Store, you can find out more about the returns process here. If the device was purchased elsewhere, then you will need to find out their returns policy. 
 
I'm sorry this wasn't the answer you were probably hoping for.

sad to see this is not compatible to the system that it is labeled with. I will be returning the camera and buying an older version off ebay.. how sad is that?

Why did you close the very active thread where your customers were discussing their displeasure with the new camera and direct people here to an inactive thread instead?  Highly suspect.

 My whole house has nest cameras and I was in the process of buying cameras for my moms new house when I stumbled across this issue.  I will be holding off purchasing her any google camera products for the time being.  Google home app will not work for my elderly mother.  She needs a more dedicated nest type solution.  Sad she cant get that from a current nest cam
