Hi
I have looked everywhere but can't find it how to turn our nest cams on automatically at night. Some posts suggest you do this through the nest app not the Google home app but our cameras don't show in that app. We purchased the cameras in July 2022
Thanks

If you have one of the newer Google Nest cameras released starting in Sept. 2021, they do NOT have the "Schedule" capability possessed by older Google Nest cameras because Google Nest decided the newer cameras would work ONLY in the Google Home app and not in the Google Nest app or on the home.nest.com website.

So is there any way to make a routine to turn them on and off at certain times of day?
Thanks

We don't use routines, but according to this thread, "you cannot turn on or off a Nest Cam with routines". Since we don't use them, I can't verify that is accurate.

So there is simply no way to turn them on and off automatically except by location?
Thanks for all your help

I don't think so:
"You can schedule your Nest camera to turn on and off at specific times regardless of whether someone’s home or not. This feature is currently only available for cameras controlled by the Nest app."

Hi there,
I apologize for my late response, and thank you for all of your patience while waiting for a reply. I understand how upsetting this may be, and I'm happy to assist you with this. I am afraid that the schedule and routines feature does not work for the newer Nest cams from 2021. We’re always looking for ways to improve, and appreciate your feedback. You can send it at any time using your devices by saying, "Hey Google, send feedback," or by following the steps found here.
Best regards,
Brad

Hello there,
I haven't heard from you in a while so I'll be locking this thread if there is no update within the day. If you have any new issues, updates or just a discussion topic, feel free to start a new thread in the community.
I appreciate the help, Brad.

This camera is non-sense...
There only 2 ways to enable/disable it: through your phone localisation or manually. It's impossible to schedule its activity, even through a routine. Non Google camera works better with Google Home!
Also you can't adjust the notifications: If you're outside you'll get notifications every time a "familiar face" passes in front of the camera, but you won't be notified if a stranger goes inside your house if you're also inside.
Such a disappointment...

They really need an option for...If familiar face detected then skip event notification. I turn off living room camera every time I walk downstairs out of habit then turn on when I'm up the stairs. Bit of a hassle. Otherwise it will spam everyone's phones of movement. Same thing if I'm about to walk out my front door, off then on again once I'm outside the property. If I cut my back garden grass, yup again same thing.
Just the ability to to not notify when familiar face detected would make such a huge difference.
I would always want camera and event notifications on even if awake and at home. Recent home invasion attempt educated me that some burglars don't seem to care if you're at home.
