VPN locks Nest camera display

We have 4 external Google Nest cameras. I just upgraded my BitDefender subscription to include unlimited VPN. When I turn VPN on it causes the live view for each camera to spin with the blue circle. I added home.nest.com to the split tunneling exception in BitDefender with no success. Is there any solutions from the Nest angle to allow for me to have my VPN enabled and still allow the Nest Cameras to be viewed live?

Hello tl59,

Thanks for posting in our community.

I understand you want to use a VPN with your Nest cameras. Let's see what your options are.

Currently, the Nest or Google Home app cannot manage VPN-related settings directly. However, I think it would be a great idea to ensure that all your cameras and the device you're using to view the live video are connected to the VPN. Please check if your Nest app or Google Home app can show you the live video to determine which specific device is having trouble communicating.

I suggest you double-check the exception you've added for any typos and contact Bitdefender support for more specific solutions on configuring your VPN with Nest cameras.

I appreciate your understanding.

Regards,
Angel.

Thanks for the response. I have 4 external Nest cameras. When I turn on the Bitdefender VPN, all 4 camera live display "spins" and I am unable to see live video. I also cannot review past motion events. So, this leaves me with the only option is to turn off VPN if I want a live view or past events view. I have added and removed the Google Nest viewing screen several times and it makes no difference. Bitdefender tells me that I need to add the split-tunnel URL for the nest website in the exceptions. Here is what I have right now. I have added 2 other websites to this exception list and it works fine for those sites. Prior to me adding the 'nest.com' URL to the exception list I could access the site with no problems. Even after adding it I can still access the site. The difference is that all 4 camera displays "spin" after I turn on the VPN which renders the live view and past events view useless. I am looking to return my BitDefender software and try another VPN service. Sort of frustrated here. Thanks.
