Video history

The doorbell only saves event history for 3 hours. Is there a way to save longer than 3 hours? For an example, we got a notification that someone was on our porch in the middle of the night, but we didn't see the notification until 5 hours later, so we weren't able to see the event by the time we woke up. I'd like to be able to keep event history for longer than 3 hours for these instances.

Unless you have a "Nest Aware" or "Nest Aware Plus" subscription, Google Nest's 2nd gen cameras only save event video history for the most recent 3 hours.

Hi folks,

Thanks for chiming in, @MplsCustomer

@DesG, uh-oh! I'm sorry to hear the inconvenience. By default, the Google Nest Doorbell stores event history for a limited period of time, typically around 3 hours. However, there are options available to extend the event history storage. Nest Aware offers event history storage, continuous video recording, and intelligent alerts. With varying subscription plans, you can access event history for up to 30 days or longer. For those who don't subscribe, you can manually record and save events using the "Record" or "Save" feature in the Nest app. This allows you to save video footage locally or in a preferred cloud storage.

I hope this information helps, and I hope you find a solution that meets your requirements for longer event history storage.

Let us know if that helps.

Best,

Zoe
