What is going on

I just ordered a new nest cam indoor outdoor battery and I can't get it to set up with my nest app. I've read that there is a lot of people including myself that feels scammed from this. I have 6 cameras and now I have to use a separate app to look at my new camera I bought? I have the nest protect that will not work with Google home. I am just as unhappy as everyone else is but I will not switch between two apps to do what I was originally doing on one app. What is Google trying to do? They are single handily sabotaging their product line. Let's just send all of our cameras back and see what happens. I'm sending mine back!

I'm with you...... The Google Home app is overkill. Way to confusing, and a complete pain to set up. The UI is a joke.

I think this is all still in flux, as its not available in the SDM api yet either. I did some digging, and it looks like there is some improved experiences on the horizon. As for what they are, I have no idea.

I just don't understand why they released it if it is going to conflict with everything every loyal customer that has already spent to much. That's like you having 3 tires on your car ordering the 4th and being told at the shop that sorry, it doesn't work with your car. It's not a good business move. The camera is literally a brick with my personal set up or I have to use 2 separate apps. It just was not thought out.

Hi there,

Sorry for my late response. Thank you for all of your patience while waiting for a reply. I just wanted to make sure that your issue is addressed. I can definitely understand how frustrating your situation must be. I am afraid I can do as much as Ashepherdson has stated and record your feedback.

Please let me know if you need further assistance.

Best Regards,

Brad.

BTW.... pardon my stridency. It's not directed at you at all. But I'm feeling really duped and as a consumer I'm really annoyed by Hooli

Personally, I have been waiting since January when they stopped shipping the old Outdoor IQ Cam.

This new cam is a completely orthogonal product line as far as I can tell. It doesn't work with Nest App. Google Home is a horrible UI with lots of wasted motion and effort. Google Home doesn't support the old doorbell or Outdoor IQ with the same level of functionality of the Nest App (especially viewing history). And come on, what stable genius designs a power cable that plugs in and faces the wrong direction? Seriously?

So, I'm not waiting any longer. Certainly not until 2022 based on some vague promises from product management on a schedule that engineering may or may not deliver on. As a consumer product, this is not ready for prime time. Perhaps a preview product, or an extended Beta?

Oh....  and just to add to my overall annoyance, I can not RMA the cable and the camera together. Both need their own boxes, both need their own RMAs and both need to go via different shipping vendors.... (Pssst, and they are going to the same place in Texas.)

I use to build products like these. People would have lost their jobs foisting something like this on the market. This has been a horrible customer experience all they way around and destroyed any brand loyalty I may have had.

No they are forcing people to use the Home app. New cameras and doorbells will not show up in the NEST APP.
