What is the recommended doorbell chime to buy for a nest wired doorbell

Hi Google nest community,

Is there a recommended doorbell chime I can purchase which has the correct voltage to work with my Nest hello wired doorbell ? I’m in Europe and my understanding it needs to be at least 12volts? The Honeywell home DW915S seems close, but still seems to require external transformers mounting and wiring which seems messy.

Any help or recommendations would be much appreciated.

Kind regards

kevin

Hi there,

Sorry for my late response. Thank you for all of your patience while waiting for a reply. I just wanted to make sure that your issue is addressed. I can definitely understand how frustrating your situation must be. I would love to help you find a solution to this issue.

- We recommend using the Google Chime Connector that is compatible with the Nest Hello. If you have the 1st gen Nest Hello, the Chime Connector came with it. If you have the new Battery-powered Nest Hello, that does not come with a chime connector.

- I would suggest you look at the Google Store and switch the country to your EU country, that way you can find the information that is appropriate to your local area. You can find the required information for the Chime Connector in the google store.

Please let me know if you need further assistance.

Best Regards,

Brad.

Hi Brad,

Many thanks for coming back to me. I’m still don’t have a solution, although I will look at the Google chime connector shortly. I’ve decided I want to purchase the Nest Battery doorbell, but connect it as wired, which will keep the battery charged and use the doorbell chime.

The Nest wired doorbell is too complicated with trying to find a chime which has a built in transformer and 16v to 24v. Mounting a separate external transformer to a doorbell chime is not ideal for us,

What I have found is other suppliers of Doorbell chimes have not been able to commit as to whether their chime would work. In fact Honeywell have been completely unhelpful and to be honest I would not give them the time of day now!

I did have some decent communication from Byron and their Byron 776 doorbell chime which has a 8volt transformer built into their doorbell chime. They think it should work with the Nest Battery doorbell. I would appreciate any thoughts you have about this particular doorbell chime?

Kind regards
Kevin

@KPC

Thank you for that explanation! That gave me a lot more information to go off of. If you choose the optional wired installation for your Nest Doorbell (battery) by connecting it to your existing doorbell wires (8 to 24 V, 10 VA transformer), your existing wired doorbell chime can ring when someone presses the doorbell button. I cannot find a suggested Chime Connector besides the Nest one, but it should work with any current chime connector you have.

Best Regards,

Brad.
