Hello,

Why cant we get the history on the google home web app. We migrated  from Nest a long time ago and the functionality still isnt there.

Could we get a timeline for when it will be available or is the home web app not being developed.

Hello Andybrad,

Thanks for reaching out here in the Community. You need to join the Public Preview to have early access to the latest Google Home app features before they're made broadly available.

How to join Public Preview

  1. In the Google Home app, tap Settings> Public Preview.
  2. Tap Join Public Preview.
  3. The Google Home app will show a notification that says it'll soon update to Public Preview.
  4. When you get the Public Preview update notification, tap Got it.
  • If you decide not to join, tap Decline acceptance.

Once you've successfully joined Public Preview, a Preview icon will appear at the top of the screen. You might also see occasional reminder notifications when you open the Google Home app.

  1. Sign into Google Groups.
  2. At the top right, tap Settings> Global settings.
  3. Confirm "Add me to their groups" is checked.
  4. To ensure that your settings remain intact, tap Save.

You can create a custom video clip from the timeline view when you save and download video clips. In the camera history view, select where you want the clip to begin and then tap Controls> Save Clip.

You can choose:

  • Full event
  • 30 seconds
  • 1 min
  • 3 min
  • 5 min

Note: If you choose to download the full event, the downloaded clip will begin from the beginning of the event. But if you choose a fixed time (1, 3, or 5 min), then it’ll start from the point in the timeline view where you tapped Save clip and selected the specified duration.

Regards,

Emerson

but there is no timeline view in the google home web app, that is the point of the thread. I really feel swindled by Google for not implementing this basic function yet. How can the original dropcam have such a great interface as well as the later nest cams and now everything is just terrible?

Just to add.

I've been burgled this week and attacked. I could not show the footage to the police on a laptop as it was not available as history.

This is ridiculous. You could do this in the nest version that we were asked to migrate from.
