I have the newest Nest cam (outdoor with battery) and the only option to connect is with Google Home, not the Nest app.

We know how important it is to be able to view all your Nest devices on one app. If you have the new Nest Cam (wired), it's exclusive to the Home app and we have no news to share about having these devices available on the Nest app. 1/2

Our long term plan is to use the Home app as the one place to control all of your favorite Nest and other smart home devices. We appreciate your feedback as we're looking for ways to improve our products and services. Stay tuned on our social media channels for more news. 2/2

Google home is way more clunky. On Nest you can see all the data in one spot. Hopefully they figure this out. Thanks for commenting.

Agree. Google have really dropped the ball here

You miss the point!!  I cannot see all of my Nest products on one screen like the Nest app. All nest cam videos streaming at one time on one screen, with nest doorbell video on the same screen , with the nest thermostat on the same screen.
you keep responding “yes you can” so show us the example because a lot of us  (consumers) don’t see it

Well said. I completely agree.

Couldn’t agree with you more, having to keep flicking through various screens to get the information that is readily available on the single Nest screen is really frustrating to say the least. And can anyone tell me how the hell I set a schedule for a camera only available in Google Home app, it is very simple in the Nest app but just can’t work out how to do it the the infuriating Google Home app !

You are missing the point totally here. The Nest app is way more superior to the Google Home app yet Google are forcing us to use the inferior product when adding new cameras which is very frustrating.

Exactly my thoughts. Nest app is older, but far superior to the Home app which is already trying to do too much. Let people add the newer cams to the nest app! Share connectivity between the two apps for people who have a preference.

I swapped from Ring to Nest and I regret it 100%. The Google home app is terrible, I liked being able to add my wife as an additional member for the Home Away assist but outside of that I regret the move from Ring

It’s ridiculous. 4 cams bought go $700.
battery life - sucks

features - suck

Home app with cams - REALLY SUCKS

the review recorded events - REALLY SUCKS.

Nest app is 100% by far superior than the garbage Google Home app.
the engineers really screwed this up and I feel like I just spent $700 to be a **bleep** beta tester. A-HOLES

Yes, this is super awful.  And the more you use it the more you will notice what is missing. For me the big thing is you can not view the new cameras on your computer's web browser.   If you read these threads you will see all the complaints.   I really hope Google comes up with something better than "new features coming in 2022". Cause that won't fly with me or I believe the user base.  With Google's resources they could give us the ability to view the cameras on our computers in a matter a days.

Super Frustrated and feeling like they really let us down after waiting so many months for the new hardware.

I've run out of patience - I'm sending them back.

Absolutely, they (google) couldn't leave well enough alone

Well said, I agree with the whole of this post !!!

Google Home app = Garbage

Nest app = Exactly what I need and reason I bought into the Nest products in the first place

I HATE the google home app

This is some grade-A BS.  I now have to go to two different apps to use all of the features of my Nest products?  How does a Nest doorbell not work with the Nest app?  That's ridiculous.  These new cameras either need to be brought into the Nest app ASAP, or all of the functionality that the nest app has needs to be brought over to Google Home right away - INCLUDING viewing cameras from the web and support for Nest Guard and Nest Detect.

Fully agree.  We bought them to work together in the old app.  Otherwise I would have bought a different product

Sent my cameras back, sounds like a lot of folks did. Maybe Google will be inspired to fix this mess.

Not only using too apps but if you change wifi you have to reset the cameras because the Nest app lets you change the the WiFi and the home app doesn’t. Google engineers suck not to migrate features from nest. They always say they are working on it

I returned  a set of Arlo cameras 'cause I couldn't get them to connect to my IOS.

I just brought home a pair of Nest battery cameras to go with our wired Nest doorbell. I knew beforehand I'd have to use Home for the cameras, the Nest app. for the doorbell.

The wife just paid for a year's subscription for Aware (?) for the doorbell. Will the subscription also cover the new cameras even though they'll be in the Home app? It bloody better!  86

It covers all of them

I think it is best to speak with actions.  My suggestion is return them for a refund.  That is what I did and I'm buying used previous gen cams from Ebay.   I believe this will easily take a year for Google to fix this.

I have the same issue here - just installed the new nest cam and discovered it only works in Google home. Really not happy with this, pleas merge both Nest & Home apps and keep the good (Nest) stuff!!!

I can't even set up my nest cam on the Google home app or nest app. I've been at it for 2 hours. Very frustrating.

Same issue, it really sucks and I do t get the notifications that I do from nest app on the google app.

This is the biggest thing. Gonna give me a cam i bought for security, and not let me use it on the app that gives me notifications of movement/sound? What **bleep**ing good is that? **bleep**ing morons

Don't use this for security..you'll be burglarized and won't even know it...

I am also pretty frustrated with this. I've been very satisfied with my other Nest cameras and products up to this point. The fact that this is advertised as a Google NEST Indoor/outdoor camera is pretty misleading.

The Google Home App is not user friendly at all and so far it hasn't given me any notifications unless I'm standing right in front of the camera.  Very disappointing considering how much these cost and this would be a very convenient product to have be wireless. Hoping Google will correct this issue soon otherwise I will be returning mine as well.

Honestly cannot believe this. My husband and I spent 2 hours trying to get this camera into the nest app before realizing it cannot. Why is it called a NEST camera? ugh so frustrated

Same we just spent 2 hours. Very frustrated. Guess we're taking it back to Best Buy.

I'm returning mine too. I just bought them and realized and cannot add them to the nest app with the rest of my stuff and the google home app is a piece of **bleep**.

I had chatted with support and ended up teaching them how the google home app and nest app worked, differed and lacked functionality. Especially the fact the advertising made it appear this works as advertised when it ended up NOT working as advertised. Google app lacks the nest functionality and the new doorbell does not work in the Nest app nor does it work properly in the Google Home app, I had to access the events in the Google Home app to access the camera live feed and under camera's the new doorbell wasn't even an option. Maybe if I Uninstall everything and start over only partial resolve is anticipated. The fact that the apps are not supporting the Nest products, apps, integration updates, nor changes as anyone would rationally expect. I get and "end chat" and dead camera after the support recommendation was to turn off and there is no ON retry function. Just ridiculous to say the least............!

Appears there is a difference with performance on the app on a Note 8 vs a Note 20 as the Note 20 works more effectively and lives up to expectations better. But it's unfortunate and misleading that the app cannot communicate limitations or issues to the users more clearly. This is likely amplified further with other phones, other android versions, or other unique environments which the app is not supporting effective issues nor limitations to the customer (ridiculous).

I've had some time and see the Doorbell working somewhat better with a newer phone and newer android OS in the Home app similar (yet different) to the Nest app. However I do not like how it appears I cannot access my camera's from a browser in Nest as well. Instead 'what appears to be' a Home app only transition that's somewhat 'Forced' onto the customers. Also I do not see the functionality of the "Time Lapse" (this has been very important and useful option) that allows me to create and save. This is Only in the Nest app and again doesn't  appear to be in the Home app. Basically the lack of any-browser access, download clips, and time lapse on my PC is leading me to look at other products and I find Google disappointing. I do not appreciate how Google is changing, forcing and integrating the Nest with Home. This includes some obvious Google poor communication, poor support, and poor or misleading advertising. After many years of my appreciation towards Google things and what use to be 'unique' ideas & features. I am now seriously considering the competition like Apple or Amazon over Google as the Pro's and Con's or business/products become less consumer centrist and more about the narrow minded sense of services. Google may of lost their customer centered innovative and open-minded idea's and became another narrow minded business. It was nice while it lasted 😞

I feel everyone’s pain here & am contemplating sending my new cameras back. I hate the Google home app, you can’t just jump on the see activity, you have to select the camera and wait. This totally sucks!

I’ve had my nest cam for years and it has worked great. New England just had a whopper of a Nor’easter during which we lost power for a full day…fortunately have a generator. I haven’t used the camera or months as we are always home with a new dog who has separation anxiety. Today we are going to start an online therapy course and I planned to use the Nest cam to cover what is happening for the trainer. The camera won’t turn on, it can’t find my WiFi after checking everything in the settings. The set up wizard just keeps looking and then shuts down when the camera is not found. Anyone else who is a long time owner of a Nest Cam having this problem? It was working so well before…what’s up with this company?
