I have the newest Nest cam (outdoor with battery) and the only option to connect is with Google Home, not the Nest app.

I got a reply from google two days ago

We know how important it is to be able to view all your Nest devices on one app. If you have the new Nest Cam (wired), it's exclusive to the Home app and we have no news to share about having these devices available on the Nest app. 1/2

Our long term plan is to use the Home app as the one place to control all of your favorite Nest and other smart home devices. We appreciate your feedback as we're looking for ways to improve our products and services. Stay tuned on our social media channels for more news. 2/2

The saddest part of all of this debacle is the fact that Google’s customer service is terrible! Nobody in that company cares and they just take you around in loops. Terrible customer service.

Indeed. I spoke to three Google reps. The first two thought it was a bug rather than a “feature”.

yes they thought a cockroach got into the camera. HELP.

Totally, complete joke of an organization

So it’s called a Google Nest Cam but I can’t use it on the Nest app? At the very least I should be able to get my Nest Protects on the Google Home App. This is all extremely irritating. Fix the problem! One step forward two steps back. Two apps to control like devices is not very cool.

Me too just bought 2 nest cam indoor and they are on the home app and the older 8 cameras are on the nest app!! This is ridiculous. I guess I have to return and buy old technology?????!!!!!

afraid that’s the only options at the minute unless support have info around if/when this will be fixed

Just bought the 2nd Gen Nest Camera to add to my existing cameras only to find I cant add it to the Nest App. Open up the home App and you cant scroll through the history like you can on the Nest App! Why am i paying a subscription for constant video recording if all i get are motion alerts which only pick up half the motion and dont send notifications. I will be returning this and if i cant find a second hand older version camera i will be cancelling my month subscription and never using Google or Nest again. I had to drive 40 mins either way to get the camera and spent hours trying to manually add it only to realise you cant. What a rip off, very shady practice Google. You will lose all your existing Nest customers if you dont fix this.

I just installed a doorbell (battery) and an indoor/outdoor battery cam. We have 4 existing cameras and we love the nest app! We also have a Ring spotlight cam and hate the software of Ring! I thought I was purchasing a "NEST" cam and doorbell....Not the case. I can't use these on my Nest app??!! Who in the 7 hells thought up this disaster!!?? I will now be returning these items and will be looking for a 1st Gen Nest cam setup....good job Google....you literally are turning away customers with a move that makes NO Sense!!

Same thing to me. I never thought Google is such stupid or don't care about their product. I SEE THEIR FAILLURE IN NEAR FUTURE.

I've been a Nest user for probably 8 years (have cams, thermostats, Nest protect, etc.). The Nest app works great. I CANNOT believe Google isn't providing the option of allowing my new NEST battery camera to work with the NEST app. I wouldn't have an issue if the Google Home app had the same interface and functionality, but it doesn't--not even close. I can't believe I am going to do this, but I am absolutely returning this camera (and also a new battery Doorbell camera). Google / Nest have really failed here and I will now start looking for another company's solution as my other Nest devices are aging anyway.

Another angry customer to add to the list. It's ridiculous! Come on Google sort it out quickly or you'll lose another long term loyal customer

Hey Google …… does anybody from your customer service reps read these comments from upset customers?

What the hell google. I get you bought out nest but at least migrate everything to one app. Hate to use two apps for same product? Wtf.

Everyone has said this repeatedly but the more people that complain the harder it might be to keep ignoring. The Home app is terrible compared to the Nest app for so many reasons. Plus on older Nest cams the Home app will push you back to the Nest app for various reasons. Pick a lane, all in on Nest or all in on Home, not this half-assed way we're all pissed about.

We just purchased the Google Nest floodlight camera - Clearly says NEST cam with floodlight.  I thought I was doing something wrong as it wouldn't connect to the Nest App - which we already use for three of our outdoor cameras including a doorbell.  This is really very bad - it surely is only a software issue - so the software engineers at Google can't be very good if they overlooked this issue.  And it obviously is a very big issue with so many people complaining about it.  Why would they not have their newest items compatible with their existing NEST APP.  Absolutely crazy.

Will someone bring this thread to the attention of a media outlet? This needs to gain traction. This is a massively huge mistake and people need to know what is going on!

I have to agree with everyone here. I thought I'd done my due diligence and research, but the lack of Nest app integration was something that didn't come up because it seemed like a no-brainer; of course there would be integration why the eff wouldn't there be. This issue seems so simple to address and sure would make a lot of brand loyal customers happy.

I totally agree. I've been using the Nest App for many years (Thermostat, cameras inside and outside) and it's been wonderful, the user experience and interface is beautiful and simple.   I just bought the Doorbell expecting to be able to use it in the Nest App and was shocked I have to use the clunky and ugly Google Home App. This makes NO sense at all.

Google please fix this ASAP so we can add our Doorbell to the Nest App.

Well Google thought I was playing around, well no more I've retuned the camera and will soon start looking for alternative options to my 5 cameras I all ready own. By the way if you don't receive the return email from google good luck trying to get a hold of someone to speak to. it literally took me an hour and I had to speak to someone in spanish in order for me to get the shipping email. when I ask why I count print the Return label on the store return site like every other online store the rep had the gaul to state that no one does it that way??? ah I said AMAZON!!! Walmart, home depot so on, lol the goggle store is a joke. well you lost a loyal customer google do to stupid decisions. As someone state earlier when I purchase the camera Nest app integration was something that didn't come up because it seemed like a no brainer of course there would be integration why the eff wouldn't there be. This issue seems so simple to address and sure would make a lot of brand loyal customers happy.

What THE F*CK Google?! Seriously WTF! By all that is good and holy, I will never purchase a google product again. I cannot add a nest cam, on the nest app? It is right there on the name of the freaking product. Like all my other cameras. So now I will have to open various apps, for the same purpose and I cannot have all the external cameras side by side, which was the reason I got the google floodlight anyway.
I 've got whiplash from shaking my head so hard.

It would be nice if Google would give us an answer on the 3+ month thread!!!!!!

I've been using the Nest App and thought I could use to add another camera. Had I known of the issue I'd have bought Blink instead. Why use two apps to manage the cameras in my home. What a bunch of dopes! The camera is on it's way back. Adios Nest and Google !!!!

Yup, I’m moving to Amazon and Blink for all my home automation and security. This is insane.

WTH google? 1 camera in the UK working in nest, 2 cameras in Spain working in nest. 1 camera in Spain not working in nest and only working in home app. Who's moronic brain child was this shinanigans anyhow? Google sort it out PDQ or lose customers at a rapid rate. People don't buy cheap cams because they expect this sort of lunacy. People pay good money for good tech and they expect the good product software and hardware to work well together! If your not going to think about these things before you mess with them, then perhaps you should consider the "if it ain't broke don't try to fix it" approach.

This is a MAJOR FU! sort your act out Google, and do it fast please. I expected so much more, but paid good money for less.

So, in Spain Yes I can see the new nest external wired camera in Ghome app, and I can see the history of what It records. I can see the 2 indoor cameras live in home app, but I can't see the history there. If I want to review something recorded indoors I have too use the Nest app. Does this mean that any new cameras I add to my home in the UK are going to be Nest app controlled or home app controlled? I'd like to know before I spend any more money, also my uncle has just bought a massive house and trusts me to choose which cameras to use and install for his all round cctv. If I can't trust Google to cover his new ferarri and the 8 acres of land, verisure do quite a competitive system! Are you just going to leave this unanswered mighty GOOGLE?

Adding to all this BS. Just purchased 2 brand new battery powered indoor/outdoor cameras. After trying for hours to get the new cameras on my Nest app I come on here and realize it’s not possible. Come on Google. This is just sad. I will be returning the cameras.

This is the last straw for me. I bought 2 of the battery outdoor cameras to go with my 2 wires and my Nest doorbell camera and many google hub displays and google home speakers, 2 Nest thermostats, etc. the fact that I cannot add these 2 new cameras to the Nest app has put me over the edge. I’m not even going resell any of my old gear as I do not want to be responsible for pulling someone else into this mess or enable them to support google in anyway. I’m returning the 2 new cameras and I’m switching to Amazon and Blink cameras. The sad thing is I can replace almost everything for the cost of these two cameras that I bought on Black Fridays sales for the same cost. Google is simply not the technology company we thought they were. I’m at a point where I might transition off Gmail, use a different web browser, search engine and more. Enough is enough. They had issues with the google homes not being able to play music via bluetooth for more than 2 minutes that took over 2 years to fix! 2 YEARS! I don’t expect this to get fixed ever. Save yourselves guys…. Start switching to some other platform. Tell your family and friends, it’s time to leave google behind.

I have 10 nest cams currently. Just bought the new google cam and door bell bell. Returning them back tomorrow to Toro. Complete junk. There are far better products than what google has.

Same here. Just got the camera but Google Home does not work for me (won't let me use Nest to add a new product) so I will return the hardware. So dumb!...

tomgdietz

Yes and you can see all the cameras open Home and you will find a cameras button.  Hit that and you will see all cameras.

This is true, it just seems inefficient compared to the Nest app.  The cameras also don't seem to load as quickly.  Not to mention other functionality not present in the Home app that is present in the Nest app.

For those of you that say that you can see all the cameras in the Home app...
WHO CARES.
You cannot see the cameras in your browser, which is what actually matters. Who wants to be checking their cameras on their phone's tiny screen.
With all previous Nest products you could go to home.nest.com and see your freaking cameras all together side by side and even keep the camera you wanted in a picture in picture setting from your **bleep** browser.
Needing a phone that depends on battery to check the cameras , while you are using it for other things, like say... TALKING, is absolutely incredibly ridiculous.
It is one thing that they do not allow us to save our video streams locally if we wish so, which is ridiculous as well, it is another to not offer a web interface for a product that has the same name with all the other products that they sell and that DO provide a web interface.

I'm as shocked as the rest of you, recently purchased 3 new cams to add to my home security and feel I should have bought a Ring setup.

I’m case anyone wants to know what’s missing:

From what I can tell the obvious one is unable to view cameras from a computer. Must have the Google Home app, which is very clunky and requires a number of taps to get to the cameras.

In Nest app we can start watching from whatever point in time scroll all we want in any direction by dragging our finger or mouse on right side of screen. I can zip forward or back an hour or more in a second or less. I use this feature every day and can’t do it I google home.

I’m Nest you can zip around anywhere you want like mentioned above and then save clip to your phone or PC and can’t do it I google home app. This makes the solution worthless.

I purchased the "Nest Cam 2.0 (indoor)" and I'm very disappointed in the lack of Nest app functionality.  I am seriously considering returning this product.  The Google Home App is not nearly as good as the Nest App.  This is not a Nest Cam it is a Google Home Cam.  To all those considering buying one of these who already own Nest products I suggest you don't waste your time or money.

Does anyone at Google plan to fix this?

I don't think so, Google  want to hold on cutting the most of control. And putting home app up ahead is the goal.
