Why not to buy the new Google Nest doorbell (battery) yet

1. There is NOT 3 hours of free event recording. There will never be 3 hours of accessable video from your doorbell if you dont pay a subscription fee. Any video older than 3 hours will be gone if you dont pay a monthly fee. If your doorbell is stolen when you sleep, there will be no record of this event... (@google please give even 20 minutes of event recording for free! Not just any events from last 3 hours!) (September 2021)

2. If you have a Samsung phone (Galaxy S10, Galaxy S10e, Galaxy S20, Note10...) the talk-back functionality does NOT work. (@Google please fix) (September 2021)

3. You cannot manually start a recording when watching the live feed on your phone. (You can use a screen recorder on your phone, but that is just...). (@Google Record button? )<span;> (September 2021)

4. The doorbell is missing cool integrations you would expect to get from a big player like Google. You cannot use the doorbell motion detection/ pressing the doorbell to trigger any routines, like turning on your porch lights etc. (You CAN however make speakers with google assistant on them (even Sonos!) inform you when someone rings the doorbell.  (September 2021)

5. There is no way to get the new nest doorbell to work with Alexa yet. (I have some speakers with Alexa as well and would like them to announce when someoune is ringig on the door). (September 2021)

Hi there,

Sorry for my late response. Thank you for all of your patience while waiting for a reply. I just wanted to make sure that your issue is addressed. I am terribly sorry to hear that you have had such a hard time with this! I would love to look into this issue further and help find a solution for you. First off, I have some questions I’d like to ask you.

  • Do you still need help with this issue?

  • What troubleshooting steps have you done thus far?

  • Have you tried to restart your device if you haven’t already?

  • If the restart didn’t work, have you tried to do a Factory Reset? This would be a last resort option, but would clear out issues and the device would essentially be ‘brand new’

Please let me know if you need further assistance.

Best Regards,

Brad.

Hi Brad,

Im happy to get your automated response. Thank you for all of your patience while reading trough the feedback I provided. I just wanted to make sure that google receives the feedback from me as a customer and can address it properly.

I am delighted to hear about your suggestion to restart the devices. I would love to see this being the solution to all the shortcommings that I listed.

Just to clarify, which of the five shortcommings that I listed do you think will be solved by a factory reset?

Best Regards,

Rob
