It's now getting towards 2 years ago now that the Gen2 wired doorbell was released in the US - but still no sign of it coming out in the UK (or anywhere else in Europe).
Given that the Gen1 is obsolete (e.g. doesn't work with Google Home etc.) there is no point in buying this old version. Kind of strange that Google even still sell an obsolete product.
This has been raised many times in the forums, but the posts just end up getting shut down, without any useful response.
We appreciate that Google can't commit to a specific release date in these forums. However all we need to know is will it EVER happen. If the answer is no, then we can all forget it and look for products from other vendors. This seems almost like Google are trying to drive non-US customers away from using Google Home at all - if that's the case, then please at least let us know.

I'm also in the same boat and have held off buying one for over 12 months, awaiting for the illusive announcement.
This week I've seen there's a sale of the GEN1 wired doorbell on the UK Google Store with £80 off the RRP which is a great deal, however what's the point investing in a doorbell that is obsolete, doesn't do what others can and isn't even comparable to the battery variant.
Like most I invested in Google for my smart home setup but feel a little let down that we're getting ignored. I understand there's a CE approval to sell in the EU/UK but it's not that difficult to get it approved. Millions of manufactures do this every year!
Thankfully, my investment so far is more about integrating other 3rd party smart home items into Google Home. I'm 2x Nest Hub displays, 2x Nest Mini's invested and was about to invest in 3x Nest Cams and 1x Doorbell, but I am now re-evaluating this and thinking about making a transition to another Smart Home maker.

Hi there!
Thank you for reaching out to our community space. I understand your frustration about the availability of the Nest Doorbell (wired Gen 2) in the UK. It's definitely been a while since its release in the US, and the lack of information for other regions can be quite annoying.
While I can't disclose specific release dates in this forum, I can assure you the team is always working on expanding compatibility and features across regions. I know it's not ideal, but selling the Gen 1 in the meantime allows us to provide some doorbell functionality while we work on bringing the Gen 2 to market.
I apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience. We're committed to making sure everyone has access to our latest products, and hopefully that will include the Gen 2 doorbell in the UK soon.
Best Regards,
Brandon.

Hi, if you can’t provide any indication of if/when it will be available, then I’ll spend my money elsewhere!
