Wired Nest Doorbell

Hi,

Ive been using nest for ages I refuse to use the google home app as NEST was always the reason I bought the doorbell camera. The general use of the NEST app is far better but Ive recently come to problems.

My doorbell camera can be viewed on the google hub at all times but recently Ive availed of the Home Away assist on the app and noticed my camera if "OFF" on the google hub.

Is this because Im declared as at home so therefore the camera turns off ?? If so isnt this wrong or a glitch in the way it should be used or are there settings I can use to change this ??

Thanks

In the Google Nest app, can you go to your doorbell, select Settings, and turn on your camera?  If not, then I don't know how you're supposed to "still control it in the app".

I don't think you can turn cameras on from a Nest Hub; at least I can't see a way.

We've never used the "Home or Away" feature, but the feature works like this:

"* The camera switches on when everyone with shared access leaves with their phone. This is Away mode.
* The camera switches off when the first person comes back home. This is Home mode."

Yes I know what it does but think about it if I want to view whos at the door on my google hub WHEN AT HOME surely the idea works against itself not allowing the camera be viewed on google hub with Home Away assist turned on ?

Read the rest of the Help topic:

"When your camera switches to Home mode or is turned off manually, the video stream stops but your camera remains powered so that you can still control it in the app."

So how do I get it viewed on Google hub with home away assist turned on ??

What settings do I go to and where ? on the app or on the hub ?

Ok does turning on the camera not turn off Home Away Assist ?

I don’t know. As I said, we don’t use the feature.

ok thanks for your help

Just try turning your camera on, and then back off when done viewing it, and see if your Home/Away cycle resumes correctly.
