We have Wired Gen 2 Doorbell.
We have a similar problem to some others stated here, but with a twist.
Here are the scenarios.
1. If both of my Google Nest Hub Displays are ON our Wi-Fi network, the nest doorbell chime wired into our existing doorbell chime inside will NOT ring. The Nest Hubs DO announce the doorbell ringing. So, if everything (doorbell & 2 nest hubs) is on the Wi-Fi network, only the Hubs announce the doorbell bring rung.
2. If my 2 Google Nest Hub Displays are OFF the Wi-Fi network...the nest doorbell chime wired into our existing doorbell chime inside WILL RING.
I figured this out the other day when our Internet service was interrupted.
I would like the doorbell to ALSO work with the chime in the house. It's louder than the hubs that are not set to max volume. I should be able to have all devices connected and all of them work.
We had our electrician install the system and he tested the transformer voltage to be appropriate.
I have tested all the settings in the Home App and nothing I can figure out will correct this problem.
Thanks for any input.
TamRootbeer
P.S. I'd be interested to see if anyone else can test this.

I just installed my gen2 doorbell (wired) and my house chime is not ringing. Same as TamRootbeer, would love to have my house chime work as well. I had the battery version previously, and the chime would always work. Had to buy a new one because the battery one I had started acting up. Decided for the wired one so I would have 24/7 recording.

It is quite strange for the doorbell chime to work ONLY when Nest Hubs are offline. Since it's so odd, perhaps it's worth doing a factory reset on the doorbell.
Alternately, other customers in this have had problems getting their indoor chime to work with the 2nd Gen Google Nest Doorbell on a 16V 10VA transformer (even though it meets minimum requirements) and were able to resolve it by upgrading to a 16V 30VA transformer. Others have had problems with a defective "chime puck" or an incorrectly wired "chime puck" (https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/12153643?).

Thanks for the quick replies.
I have removed and readded the doorbell to the Nest Home App, but will try resetting. I have checked the connections of the chime; they are fine. Chime works fine when the hubs are not online.
The electrician tested the volts to be 19V via the doorbell wires. The building is circa 1974, so there is no telling where they hid the transformer.
(Side Note: This electrician works on huge projects like hospital infrastructure and NASA facilities/launchpads. Was helping us by installing our doorbell; that's what friends are for. So, he knows what he's doing in case you were wondering.)
It is interesting that others are having the same issue. I think it has something to do with the app and either/or...either it announces via hubs that are connected to the home app, or it announces to the chime puck. There needs to be an AND option.
(Side Note: I am a Google Certified for Education Trainer and pretty nerdy myself. I do troubleshoot as much as I can. This one has me perplexed.)
I will fiddle with resetting it and let you know what I discover.

Discovered a few things, though it is still not working.
I tried uninstall/reinstall on Home app, didn't work.
Tried putting doorbell on the 2G network and the hubs on the 5G network.
Tried unplugging the hubs and powering down the phone. (Sorry, I can't remember exactly but I think it did nothing. My brain is tired of dealing with it).
I want to wait until nobody is using the WiFi and shut it all the way off and see if that helps. At least the hub can tell you somebody is at the door.
Anyhow, I think it is something that needs to be added to the programming of the home app.
Thanks...keep any ideas coming.

Your case is beyond peculiar. Until the internal batteries on our Google Nest Hello Doorbells failed and we had to turn off the "Indoor chime" option so that the doorbells wouldn't go offline when pressed (https://www.googlenestcommunity.com/t5/Cameras-and-Doorbells/Nest-Hello-Doorbell-cuts-out-when-butto...), we were getting "Visitor announcements" on our Nest Hubs AND our indoor chime was ringing. I can't even imagine how or why your newer doorbell would behave differently when your Nest Hubs are online.
I can sympathize with not knowing where your transformer is located; our house was built in 1929, and getting at our old transformer to replace it was a challenge. But I want to reiterate that several customers in this forum have replaced a 16V 10VA transformer with a 16V 30VA transformer to get their chime to work with the 2nd gen doorbell. And several customers have had defective "chime pucks". But I don't know if that would make ANY difference at all; your case is quite odd. Perhaps at some point you should consider contacting Google Nest Support (https://support.google.com/googlenest/gethelp); perhaps your doorbel is defective.

Hi Juni,
Apologies for not replying sooner.
I tried every suggestion and then some.
The whole thing is still quite perplexing. It evolved into me testing the doorbell every time we went in and out of the house. Sometimes it works... sometimes it doesn't.
I really think the transformer needs to be replaced. Now the problem is finding where it's hidden. The place was built in the early 70s, so there's no telling.
Thank you for being so supportive and following up,
Tam

Hello TamRootbeer,
The doorbell chime transformer is a square block that is generally found close to the electricity panel, in a closet near the front door, or mounted to a joist under the front door in the basement. The chime is the device that sounds when the doorbell is pressed. It usually hangs over the entrance.
Thanks for your help, @MplsCustomer, JT, and Juni.
Best,
Zoe

Hello All,
I'm not able to look for the transformer as we're currently in our summer home and will be here until October. I intend to investigate further when we return to our other place.
So sorry to is can't be resolved at this point.
