Will a 5 V 1 Amp charger work to keep the doorbell battery charged if connected continuously?

Below is a link to Google Nest's stated requirements. Many customers--including us--have reported in this forum upgrading to a 16V 30VA transformer for both 1st and 2nd gen doorbells, to get them to function properly.
