imported wired 2nd gen doorbell cloud services

Hi,

It may have been answered somewhere already but just hoping for a quick response. I understand that it's technically possible to purchase the 2nd gen wired from a supplier in the USA and get it working in Australia. What if specifically like to know is whether ALL the cloud services i.e 24/7 recording, alerts etc will work with the paid subscriptions in Australia.  i understand if warranty issues come about, you'd need to send back to US supplier. Would love an Australian release but that's probably looking unlikely in the near future.

I don't know if it will work.  I know because of the licensing and legal issues Google limits what features and functions work when you buy a camera in one country and try and install it in another.   I'm going to escalate this and see if we can get you a more definitive response from Google.

Hi everyone,

@Zm1901, thanks for reaching out to the Community. I’d be happy to help you with your questions.

While the Nest Aware subscription is available in Australia but the Nest Doorbell (wired, 2nd gen) isn’t, we can’t guarantee that all features and services will work on this device if you add it to your account.

Right now, the best thing to do is purchase the Nest Doorbell (battery), which is supported in Australia.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

I appreciate your help, EmptyNester.

All the best,

Lance

Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately the battery version won't suit my needs as any trickle charge type doorbells just don't charge fast enough for areas that have high activity. I'm more interested in 24/7 continuous recording so your battery version is not suitable for my purposes. Perhaps there is someone from Australia that may have had first hand experience with my scenario can chime in given it's not really a definitive response?
