need to reduce or eliminate motion on nest outdoor camera to people only

Hello, I just installed my camera but the boat and the water are always moving. If It would only alert to people that would be great. Or eliminate certain areas maybe, but 90% moves

Thank You,

Derek

If you have the Google Nest Camera Outdoor (and not the new battery-powered one released this fall), you can go to Settings in the Google Nest app, go to Notifications, and make sure that, under Activity, only People is selected. You can also select Activity Zones under Settings and create your own zones, with notifications for each.

If you have the new Google Nest Camera Battery, you have to go to Settings in the Google Home app instead, select Events, and then select Seen Events to set up zones and notifications. (The old and new cameras don't use the same app!)

(I'm just another Google Nest customer.)

Thanks Brad,

I set it to people only and just want to be able to check on the boat from time to time or if a person shows up. Do i need anything more than the app to do this like nest aware. I am retired and need to watch expenses. Thanks very much,

Derek

@betsyderek

You definitely do not need a Nest Aware subscription in order to view your Camera's Live Feed. If you want clips of any events, you will need a Nest Aware subscription. But if you only want the Motion detection to go off for people, you have the option to do that.

Best Regards,

Brad.
