nest camera won't charge

My outdoor nest camera abruptly stopped charging.  It has worked fine for a year, but this week it won't charge when I bring it inside and connect it to power via the cord and adapter that came with it.  This occurs at multiple outlets, so it isn't an outlet issue.  The cable is inserted correctly (cord to the front), the connections are clean (I wiped them with a soft cloth as recommended) and the cord and adapter are firmly plugged in.  When I plug it into power it chimes and the white light comes on (and stays on as long as it is connected to power).  However the Google Home app indicates that the battery is empty even if I leave it plugged in for two days.  Any suggestions?

You could try contacting Support to determine if your camera has failed and needs replacing, hopefully under warranty:

1. Go to https://support.google.com/googlenest/gethelp.
2. Select a category/product family, and type in a brief description of the issue, then click "Next".
3. Click "Other", then click "Next step".
4. Under "Resources", just click "Next step". (Clicking one of the listed links will bring up a Help page.)
5. Under "Contact options", choose to get a phone call or chat with the team, depending on availability in your country.

Hi folks.

Thanks for reaching out in the community forum.

@MplsCustomer, thanks for your help in this post.

@BJMB,  I'm sorry to hear your Nest camera isn't charging normally. Let's work together to fix it. To help me with this, I have a few questions for you:

  • What's the status light on your Nest camera?
  • Are you able to check the camera feed?
  • Did you receive any notification from the Google Home app?
  • Did you notice or experience any power outages recently?

Any additional details you can provide will be helpful.

Sincerely,
Jonathan
