no ability to view the video history of my new 2nd gen doorbell

I am not able to view the history on my video like i was able to when i had a 1st gen nest doorbell. I had to replace my previous one today with the 2nd gen and even in the home app when i look at the history there is nothing but a blurred picture that says "no events detected". with my previous one i could see whatever the camera recorded. this lack of functionality is a huge step down and needs to be fixed. I have a nest subscription and i am not getting what i am paying for. how long until we have the full nest functionality with the 2nd gen doorbell?

Hello,  I'm an end user like you.   It should be working very similar to the way it works on the Nest app.   Can you double check that the Google Home app shows your Nest Aware subscription is active?   Do this by going into the top level of the app where you see all your devices listed.  Then scroll down and under Nest Services and support you would see SUBSCRIPTIONS.    Click it and you should see NEST AWARE listed. Then click that and another screen should come up and show you that you have NEST AWARE or NEST AWARE PLUS.

Then click that and another screen should come up and show you that you have NEST AWARE or NEST AWARE PLUS.

 

It does not show in my google home subscription list, but does show when i look.in my nest app. Its nest aware, the 50 dollar subscription. I think im screwed unless i bump it up to the 150 subscription 🤬. This is a not great move by google.

It sounds like you may have had the old 1st gen Nest Aware subscription on your 1st gen Google Nest Hello Doorbell. Those subscriptions are not available for the 2nd gen cameras and doorbells, and in fact can no longer be purchased for 1st gen cameras and doorbells either.

The choices now are a Nest Aware subscription ($80/year) or a Nest Aware Plus subscription ($150/year). They cover all Google Nest cameras and doorbells--old and new--in the same Google Nest "home/structure". We've had Nest Aware Plus since 2020.

Without a subscription, with the new cameras and doorbells you get event video history for the most recent 3 hours only.

You have to turn on the events you want recorded in the Google Home app:

If you cancel your 1st gen Nest Aware subscription, you should get a pro-rated refund for any remaining time on the subscription.

That is probably the case. Currently im showing that i have the first gen plan based on what you said. Imo the $80 plan isn't great and the $150 is over priced. Maybe your team can consider adding a day or two of recordings in addition to the length of alerting to make the $80 dollar price tag actually worth it. Maybe if the home web portal actually worked the same way that the nest portal worked it would be different, but currently it feels like we have half a product, when compared to what we had with the original nest product. I appreciate your help and ill figure out what i want to do. It feels like i should have bought a new in box first gen to replace the one that died so i could get get full use out of my doorbell. Between this plan stuff and field of vision changes between the 2 generations, it's pretty frustrating.
