I have chromecast gen 3
I'm trying to connect ultimately to a mobile mifi dongle for use in a remote location.
I'm using the 2 phones method (one with hotspot, one to use home app to connect) to setup the chromecast.
initially it connected ok, updated, but after hard reset it no longer connects.
I've tried multiple variations, changing SSID, password, security to open, WPA2, WPA3, 2.4ghz, 5ghz on the phone hotspot but nothing changes.
I then setup on a fiber wifi system and it connected ok.
"Check internet connection" is the on screen message, and in-app as it connects to the Chromecast inbuilt wifi it gives the error "could not communicate with your chromecast"
Any suggestions?

Hi Simon_Ewing,
Thanks for reaching out. Using a hotspot to set up a Chromecast device may or may not work as this type of network isn't officially supported or recommended. If it does connect to a home network, the issue is isolated with the hotspot. We still recommend to use a home Wi-Fi network to experience a better performance of the device.
Thanks,
Jennifer
