4k Chromecast with Gtv option to allow unknown sources

In order to side load apps, developer mode must be on and then under the “Security and Restrictions” menu, allow unknown sources must be checked. These options disappear once any app, including supported apps, is downloaded.  This is now a known issue, there was another thread that a rep marked as resolved, though it was not. For many of us, this is the primary reason we bought the device and the inability to use this feature has been leading many to return their device and go with a Fire Stick. Is this issue being actively worked on or is it a dead feature?

Welcome to the Chromecast Community Forum! This is something I've run into as well, and I am currently in contact with a higher tier of support. While I am still waiting for a response, I'll let you know as soon as I find anything out regarding this unknown sources issue.

Yeah I already returned my chromecast and got a firestick. You guys are really dragging your feet on this one

I'm really sorry to hear that the Chromecast wasn't working out, and it's totally understandable. If a key feature that I used disappeared randomly, I'd be pretty annoyed as well. I'm still waiting for a response from support regarding this, but did you have any other questions I can address, or should I go ahead and lock the thread?
