Again, casting issues with Vizio!

Jenneffer

Dang it! Why are we having casting issues with Vizio again? The last time I had to use an older version of Chrome where the problem did not exist.  Why does this keep happening? My Pixel casts in Spectrum AND YouTube to my Vizio TV, but Chrome via my PC will not!

Good day, did you solve the problem? Did they help you?

No, they have NOT solved the problem.

Any help?  We have a vizio and can't cast from my laptop any longer.

Nothing! Interestingly, my Pixel 5 can cast to Vizio. So this is a CHROME issue.

Hi folks,

Thanks for posting and sorry to hear that you are having an issue casting from Chrome browser to your Vizio TV. Let's sort this out.

A few questions — what is the make and model of the device you used to cast? What Operating System (OS) do you use? Is the Google Chrome browser version updated?

Give these steps a try:

  1. Ensure that the browser used is Google Chrome and that it’s up-to-date.
  2. Make sure your PC's operating system is updated.
  3. Make sure any firewall or antivirus software is up-to-date and don’t block connections to the Chromecast device
  4. Restart your TV and PC.
  5. Restart your router.

Thanks,

Jennifer

Hey folks,

It's me again. I want to make sure you're all good — how did the steps go?

Regards,

Jennifer

No, that did not work. I also unplugged and pushed power button for 5 sec, restated. I also reboot TV and router. My PC's Chrome will cast to my other TV and devices. My cellphone will cast to TV, using Apple & Spectrum apps. Just a Vizio & Chrome problem.

Hi Jenneffer,

Sorry for the late response. If the issue is isolated when casting Chrome to your Vizio TV, please try to reach out to Vizio so they can further check this in their end. There might be an update with your Vizio TV or some settings that needs to be configured.

Thanks,

Jennifer

Hey folks.

Just wanted to see if you still need help. Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns as I will be locking this in 24 hours if I won't hear back from you again.

Should that happen, feel free to create a new one if you have more questions or have other concerns in the future.

Thanks,

Jennifer

As I said before, NO -- this is not resolved. This is a Chrome issue. Fix it. It works when I delete and upload an older version of Chrome like 96 or 97. FIX THE PROBLEM.

Hey there jenneffer,

I thought I would chime in since I have a setup using a Vizio E70-F3 and a Chromecast with Google TV. I check for firmware updates on both devices to make sure they were both up-to-date, then I hopped on Google Chrome on my laptop to make sure Google Chrome was up-to-date as well:

I was able to cast from YouTube to my Chromecast with Google TV with the Chromecast, the Vizio TV, and Google Chrome being up-to-date. Let me ask you a couple of questions to find out where the issue is:

  • What model of Vizio TV do you have?
  • Are you unable to cast from one website, or any website?
  • Under chrome://flags, is "Load Media Router Component Extension" enabled?
  • Does the laptop have any kind of VPN, firewall, or Anti-virus that may be affecting Chrome from connecting?
  • Is the cast button missing, or do you not see the Chromecast on the device list?

I look forward to your response on this, and if you had any other questions, please let me know.

Best regards,

Jeran

Hi Jeren,

Still no luck. Thank you for the recommendations via Experiments. I have tried Beta as well.

Model V405-G9

The casting button is there and reading the HUB. Not picking up the Roku consistently.

Hey there Jenneffer,

No problem at all! If you have the time, would you be able to re-create the issue, then submit feedback via the Google Home app with logs enabled? That way, Google is aware of whatever issue is occurring with the new version of Google Chrome and your Vizio TV. For now, I would just keep using the workaround of using an older version of Google Chrome.

I'm sorry we couldn't have been more helpful, but if you had any other questions or concerns, I'd be happy to address them.

Best regards,

Jeran
