All Cast devices (Google TV, Chromecast, Nest Audio, etc) randomly pausing

Hello. My entire home is google products (except my phone - apple). I have 3 nest hubs, 2 google tvs, 2 chromecasts, 2 paired Google Home Max speakers. And i use 3 google wifi mesh routers to connect my home.

Across all of these devices - at random times - the media i'm playing will pause. When i hit play, it plays 1 frame or a split second of audio - and then immediately pauses.  For Google TV, i have to reboot the device for it to function normally. this happens at least once a day. And i'm not casting from my phone, im using the Google TV remote.

For Chromecast, rebooting doesnt even work. I've factory reset devices, removed from my Home app, etc... the only thing that works is time. I need to walk away from the device and try it another day. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesnt.

I've done everything in this support thread, yet nothing actually fixes the problem long-term. Everything is just a temporary fix until the next issue.

This seems like a core software issue that needs to be addressed. I've seen countless posts about this issue dating back years and google hasnt been able to solve this problem.  Please provide attention to this issue. Thank you.

I have been dealing with this issue for months with no solution. It got better for my Chromecast with Google TV when I turned off enery saving and pushing the control notification to all devices on the network but never truly went away. Before it was contained to my CwGT but today my Chromecast Ultra is doing the same thing. The only device I haven't seen it on is my old gen 1 chromecast.

Usually all the threads try to push it off as network interference or something but I'm not convinced and I see complaints of this same issue spanning years. I suspect it's an issue with the casting firmware since it's across apps (YouTube, Disney+, Amazon Prime, etc) but it would be nice to hear that the development team is actually looking into it.

Hey there,

This is currently a known issue, here is another thread on the subject . I'll go ahead and get this thread passed up to the engineering team, so they have more examples with this bug. If you would like, you could submit feedback via Google Home with logs enabled, so they have more information on your devices.

To be transparent with you, it may take the Chromecast team some time to identify a long term fix for this issue, so we appreciate your patience. We'll keep you posted as soon as we have any updates.

Best regards,

Jeran
