We have 2 chromecast with google TV that have been working well for a year now. One is using a wired connection, and one using WiFi. On both, at the same time, the Apple TV app has started refusing to come up, with an error message "Network Unavailable - There were errors with this connection. Wait a moment, then try again". Sometimes uninstalling, and reinstalling will clear the issue for a bit, but it returns. The app has been working without issue for the last 9 months. No other app is having problems. Apple TV works fine on laptops using the same network
Rebooting the chromecast or router makes no difference. Network performance/latency seem fine, same as before we were seeing issues.

If other GCGTV applications work fine with your network, then, you know there's nothing wrong with the network or router.
Therefore, before uninstalling the Apple TV application, clear its cache and data first, then uninstall and, finally, reinstall the application and reconfigure it.

@djteteiThanks for the input. Unfortunately, although I didn't mention it, I have been clearing both cache and data, and it hasn't helped in any appreciable way.

That still doesn't rule out the presence of a software bug in the Apple TV application or in the way it interacts with Google Chromecast with Google TV operating system..

@djteteiAbsolutely. I've posted over in an Apple forum for TV+ as well, no responses so far.

Hey there martinknutson,
Have you head any word back from the Apple forum on this issue?
Just checking up,
Jeran

No, I never got any useful response. Fortunately, after a week, the problem just stopped happening. There are a ton of possible explanations, but I have no way to know what changed.

Oh, well, that's good to hear that the app is working again! I wonder if there were some communication issues happening at the time. In that case, did you have any more questions or concerns that we need to address?
Best regards,
Jeran

No, I don't think I have any open questions. There are so many things that could have gone wrong between the app and the servers providing Apple TV that without logging from the app itself, we'll never know what was going wrong. Thanks for your help.

Of course! In that case, I'll go ahead and lock up the thread. If you run into any more issues in the future, feel free to start a new thread.
Thank you for helping martinknutson out, djtetei, I appreciate it!
Best regards,
Jeran
