Apps on chrome cast dropping out

Hi all,

Most of my streaming apps have started to drop out (exit without warning) when trying to use my chrome cast/google tv. Any ideas on what to do? I feel like I’ve tried almost everything.

Hey there shanae,

I apologize about the late response on this thread, thank you for being patient! Were you able to fix that crashing issue? If not, I'd be happy to help out, as I can imagine this gets to be quite frustrating. Let me just ask you some questions to narrow down the issue:

  • Is your Chromecast up-to-date on its firmware?
  • Have you tried a factory reset?
  • Does this issue only occur with native apps installed on the Chromecast, or when you cast to the Chromecast?
  • Does this issue occur after a few minutes into streaming, or immediately?
  • What color is the LED light on the Chromecast when this happens?

If you haven't already, I would attempt to clear the cached data on all the affected apps, and it that doesn't resolve it, factory reset the Chromecast. Depending on what color the LED light turns when this issue occurs, we can rule out a few factors.
