Audio Latency Google TV on Chomecast Ultra (or Roku)

MorganWoodruff
Community Member

GoogleTV on a Chromecast Ultra gains latency as time goes on so that after as little as 30 minutes you must kill the app and restart the program to use it. It gets better, this is ONLY FOR GoogleTV - not even YouTube falls out of sync. Verizon FiOS for Internet and Google Nest with 5 points. This happpen on multiple TVs and on a RoKu stick as well.

Hi MorganWoodruff,

Thanks for reaching out. Let's sort this out.

A few questions: when did the issue start? What device are you using for casting? How far is your Chromecast Ultra from the Wi-Fi router?

Try these steps:

  1. Close and relaunch the affected app(s), then try to cast the same content again.
  2. Clear the cache and data of the affected app(s).
  3. Uninstall and reinstall the affected app(s).
  4. Close any battery-draining applications that may be running on your casting device.
  5. Try decreasing the distance between the TV, router, and computer. The devices should be less than 15-20 feet (5-6 meters) apart, ideally within the same room.
  6. Reboot your Chromecast, casting device, and Wi-Fi router.
  7. Reset your Chromecast.

Note: If the issue is also happening with other streaming devices such as your Roku stick, the issue might be with your Wi-Fi network. Please reach out to your router manufacturer for further help.

Thanks,

Jennifer
