Recently obtained a new old stock Chromecast Audio, which updated itself during setup.
Sending music to it from a Huawei Mate 20x, a 2019 phone, using YouTube Music, Spotify and Soundcloud.
Problem is that the music playback will stop through the Chromecast randomly. This is with the phone on a desk 2m from the Chromecast, so distance is not an issue. The playback from each of these apps via Bluetooth to a Bluetooth speaker has always worked fine and consistently. It's as if the app controlling the Chromecast on the phone is working erratically. Sometimes the music stops and then recovers itself in a few seconds, sometimes it never recovers.
If I check the phone when the music is stopped then the Chromecast still appears to be connected, and the track is playing, but no sound.
Any ideas how I might troubleshoot this issue and what might be the cause?

Nick, did you ever figure this out?

Gave up, sold it. Too much hassle. I guess the tech is outdated now.

Thanks. Well, just checking to see if Nick is still having problems because I've wanted a Chromecast audio for a long time, but I was leery of possibly not being supported or not working. However, prior to replying to Nick's post, I had chatted with a Google agent and they had assured me that Google Chromecast audio should still be working fine. So I felt better, but then I stumbled upon this post. So can you tell us if Google Chromecast audio should still work and it's still supported? I know Google had a conflict with Sonos and that had to do with multi wireless speakers but I mean in general, if you just connect it to one audio input, is it going to still work? Thanks. Unfortunately, Nick said he gave up and sold his. That's probably why he's not responding to the messages.. So I guess the response would be for me.

Hey there CeeKay,
Rest assured that the Chromecast Audios are still being supported and should still function properly, even if they aren't in circulation anymore. They will still receive periodic over-the-air firmware updates for any issues, and if you run into problems, Google Support will be able to help troubleshoot. Even with the speaker group changes back in January, Chromecast Audios received a firmware update to allow them to keep functioning within a speaker group.
I hope that puts your mind at ease, and if you had any other questions or concerns, please let us know!
Best regards,
Jeran

Hey there CeeKay,
No problem at all! Since we haven't heard back from NickBNZ on this thread, I'll go ahead and lock it up for now. If you have any more questions in the future, please feel free to create a new thread.
Thank you for your help on this, Jennifer!
