Autoplay and preview with sound both toggled off, but tiles start autoplaying with sound

When I access YouTube through the Chromecast with Google TV as I'm browsing if I stop moving for any reason, after a few seconds it will annoyingly start playing a preview of whatever tile the cursor is settled on with sound. I absolutely cannot stand this behavior. Netflix has a similar feature they allow you to disable in the settings.

I went into the settings and have disabled autoplay, as well play previews with sound, and while this works when browsing from a computer, it does not work when watching through Google TV. I can't find anyway to turn this behavior off.

This is a deal killer for me.

Does anyone know how to fix this issue?

(Also annoying is the fact that I was forced to choose a platform but TV is not listed, so I had to choose Android)

Thanks!

No, I'm good! Just on a whim I tried toggling it on and off again, and this time it miraculously worked! No more annoying jarring audio!

Thanks for your assistance!

Hey there eyeofmodok,

I'm sorry to hear that even though you disabled those previews, they keep playing anyway. This would bug me as well, so I'd be happy to help out. First, go ahead and delete the cached app data on the YouTube app. If that doesn't resolve it, try finding the Previews with sounds setting in the Google TV app, then enable, then disable them again.

I look forward to your response, and if you have any other questions or concerns for me, please let me know!

Best regards,
Jeran

Hey Jeran, thanks for attempting to solve my issue. I've cleared the cache multiple times, but this behavior was exhibited from the very moment I installed my device, so I didn't hold out much hope. Something is wrong with the app. Play previews with sound is toggled off, but they still play on the TV only. This is a bug that needs to be fixed.

Hey there eyeofmodok,

That is interesting. If you don't mind, would you be able to re-create the issue, then submit feedback via Google TV? That way, if any error logs are generated, they would be sent to the Google Engineering team. From there, they could look at resolving this.

Best regards,

Hey Jeran,

I will do that! I litterally try this everyday hoping there's been a fix.

Thank you,

Hiya eyeofmodok,

Awesome, thank you for doing that! If any errors are in those device logs, that should help the Chromecast/YouTube team track down the issue. In the meantime, are there any other questions or concerns we can address?

Best regards,

Jeran
