Black screen on chromecast

Hello everyone, I just bought a Chromecast with Google tv and set it up on an Asus VP28U monitor.

Setting up went smoothly and I even managed to watch some videos for 1h. I switched the monitor off and came back 5min later and now Chromecast shows a black screen every 2s. I tried a factory reset and I can't even reinstall it correctly as it keep doing it even after the reset. I tried changing the HDMI port, to plug the power in another socket, restarting the router it does not change anything (connecting a computer through that same HDMI port works perfectly fine). This is the second time it is happening to me. I sent back the first chromecast thinking that it was defective but now I am wondering if I am missing something in the setup of the Chromecast). Would you have any solution for this ? Thanks!

I have the same thing. After my TV is switched off and back on, I see the Chromecast home screen for about 1 second, and then a black screen. After I restart the Chromecast it works, but after TV is off and back on, not anymore...

Hi folks,

Thanks for reaching out and I'm sorry to hear that you're having an issue with your Chromecast device. Let's check this further.

Quick questions: what's the LED status on your Chromecast? Is the Chromecast plugged in correctly to the TV and power source? Please take note that it is recommended to plug in the Chromecast to a TV to get the best experience and to avoid any issues on the device.

Give these steps a try:

  1. Make sure the Chromecast is plugged directly into a power source. Use the power cord and adapter that came with the Chromecast.
  2. Check the HDMI cable connections to make sure it fits firmly into the TV’s HDMI port.
  3. If the TV still only shows a black screen, reboot your Chromecast: unplug the power cord > wait one minute > plug the cord back in.
  4. Plug in the Chromecast on a TV.

Shermski, please try to factory reset your Chromecast. Here's a guide

Thanks,

Jennifer

Hello,

Thank you for your answer. Everything was correctly plugged in. The only thing that worked was to return the Chromecast and exchange it with the HD version instead of the 4k one even if my monitor handles 4k.
