Both Youtube apps stopped casting?

EgStanton

This is very odd. 24 hours ago all 7 android devices all stopped casting using either YouTube or YouTube Music. My devices are 4 google smart speakers and 2 Chromecasts.

I am running latest versions of apps. I have restarted all hardware. I have cleared caches on all 7 devices. The speakers & chromecasts work for all other apps apart from YouTube's. In addition to this the YouTube apps on the smart tvs (2) have also stopped working. But YouTube deny there's any problem and have suggested clearing cache and updating software (which I've done)! Please help !!

mine is still down. only on the 2 chromecasts. did you do anything before it started working?

I did submit a report (with logs) to Google. And it then was resolved within about 4 hours. Nor sure if coincidence ? I never heard anything back from Google.

Did you do that through the chromecast or on your account? I am not sure how to get the logs to send. Thanks for the info.

I tweeted TeamYouTube and they asked me to submit here : https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/4347644?hl=en-GB&co=GENIE.Platform%3DAndroid

Logs are completed for you automatically.

No. Thank you for all your help. I found out that it was actually on my end. my router was only assigning IP6 addresses to the chromecasts and they don't work on those. I renewed all the IP4 & IP6 addresses and forced the router to give it an IP4 ip address. BOOM, everything worked again. Fingers crossed.  Thanks for all the help.

Hey there JasonH,

I'm glad to hear you were able to resolve the issue! I'll go ahead and leave this thread open for a few more days, and if we don't hear anything back, I'll go ahead and lock it up.

Best regards,

Jeran
