Can i use my google display as a speaker for my chromecast?

I have a spare monitor and thought I could use my chromecast on it, however the monitor itself doesn’t have inbuilt speakers. Is there a way to cast the audio from the chromecast to my google mini display?

No, not with the 3rd Gen Chromecast device.

It's a bit clunky sometimes, but the new Chromecast with Google TV devices will push sound to a Bluetooth speaker and you can set your Mini to be a Bluetooth speaker.

But, unfortunately, your Chromecast device cannot do that.

See if your monitor has any audio-out ports and connect wired-speakers to it.
