Can't add child account that is in Family Link

When I go to add my child's existing Google account, that is in Family Link, to our Chromecast with Google TV I get an error message stating "Can't sign in on this device - The software on this device isn't compatible with your child's Google Account...." Going to the link further in the message it just takes me to https://families.google.com/familylink/device-compatibility/ which mentions nothing about Chromecast devices.

So my take is that because I have my kid enrolled in Family Link, that means their account becomes incompatible with the Chromecast with Google TV...which seems quite ridiculous and a huge miss on Google's part.

Creating a "Kids Account" on the Chromecast with Google TV eliminates the ability for them to have Youtube. So that isn't really a solution.

Is there a solution to this or maybe some kind of wacky workaround I can use to allow my child to have supervised access to the Youtube app on a Chromecast with Google TV?

I have the exact same issue. This is a big problem which prevents me from using my Chromecast with Google TV.

Other threads that have mentioned this issue have been closed with a resolution that doesn't work. For example:

https://www.googlenestcommunity.com/t5/Chromecast/Kids-profile-is-gone-in-google-chromecast/m-p/1656...

I've found this solution a couple of times. It says 'Under "Who’s watching," select Add a kid > Get started.', but this doesn't work since there is no such button to be found.
