Can't cast Intelivideo on my iPhone to Chromecast?

Teepeee08

Hi All,

Looking for some assistance as I have tried the trouble shooting steps to no avail. I am trying to cast a video from the Intelivideo app on my iPhone to the Chromecast with google TV . I can cast other apps no issue, but when I try to cast videos from this app, I am asked for a PIN. I am not using guest mode. There is no PIN showing on the tile for the device, and there is no option for selecting guest mode in the settings for that device to see the PIN. Not sure if this is an issue with Chromecast not supporting this particular app? I can cast it to my Apple TV. Hoping someone may have had some advice other than the already tried suggested troubleshooting?

The PIN will be specific to Intelivideo. From their support pages, see the "Where do I find my PIN?" section.

Hello, I tried with the Intelivideo PIN I was emailed, but this is a 6 digit PIN, when I try to cast the intelivideo videos to the device, it asks for a 4 digit PIN that can be obtained from the Google Chromecast App (google home app) in the guest mode section, however looking online , the google chromecast with google TV doesn't have a guest mode option? Sorry if that is confusing LOL

Hi Teepeee08,

Thanks for sharing that. You mentioned that you can cast all other apps, and this is the only app being asked for a PIN. The guest mode allows a user to cast to a TV even if the casting source is not connected to the same Wi-Fi network. It would ask for a PIN, which is applicable to all apps. If you can cast even just one single app, then this means it’s not related to guest mode. It seems that your Chromecast device is working as intended. I suggest you contact Intelivideo for further assistance. Let us know how it goes.

Thankyou, I will try them. I just assumed that since it was asking for a PIN that could be found on the Chromecast app it might be something Chromecast related. I will update if I can get a resolution

Thanks for that David, I gave it a go, however it is asking for a 4 digit pin that can be accessed on the Chromecast app to log into the chromecast device itself? The Intelivideo pin is a 6 digit PIN. Seems it may be a guest mode thing looking online , but the Chromecast with google TV doesn't have a guest mode option? And It is only when I try to cast from Intelivideo?

If this only happens when you cast from Intellivideo, they are best placed to advise why this occurring. As you rightly said, your model of Chromecast don't support guest mode so this isn't Google requesting you enter a PIN here.

Hello! Intelivideo replied by sending me a link to google help to find a guest PIN, so basically they were zero help 😞 I replied to them that I had already been through all that (actually mentioned everything i had tried in my original message but they obviously didn’t read that or ignored it). So no resolve unfortunately

Hello, Intelivideo replied again. They are adamant that its not an issue with their app, they only have 5 digit PINs, not 4 digit as the app is asking for. They just keep saying that its a google issue, and the alert I get from the app when trying to cast is that the 4 digit PIN can be found in the chromecast app (but my device doesn't have a PIN because it doesn't have guest mode). Could it just be that the particular google chromecast device I have is not compatible with the intelivideo app?

Hi Teepeee08,

Thanks for the details. Did you verify with them if this could be account-related or limited to the number of streaming devices? To clarify, we don’t have a Chromecast app. We only have a Google Home app where guest mode is accessible. If guest mode is on, all apps on all phones not connected to the same Wi-Fi will require the PIN when casting. This is not a case related to guest mode. We can’t confirm if Intelivideo is not a cast-enabled app or a supported app. But it’s evident that your Chromecast is working as intended. Coordinate with them or check if they have a community that might have answers specific to other users of this app. So far, it seems that you’re the only user to have posted something specifically about this app. If this is really about the Chromecast device, a lot of users may have already posted about it.

I look forward to your response.

Thanks,

Kimy

I did state that my device doesn't have guest mode to have a PIN, multiple times, they basically just glanced over it.  Told them that all other apps are working as intended, they glanced over that too. I asked them to confirm if maybe their app is not supported on my particular device as i have used Apple TV to cast their app before with no issue.  Thank you for the suggestion of looking to see if they have a community chat, that may be my best option as their help desk hasn't done anything more than direct me to google help LOL
