Hey there Kashi,

I am sorry about the late response, thank you for being patient! Were you able to fix that casting issue? If not, I'd be happy to help out, as I know these problems can be a headache. Let me just ask you some questions about what's happening:

  • When did this issue start happening?
  • What version of Android is your phone using?
  • Does this only happen on one app, or many?
  • Are you able to go into an app like YouTube and cast from there?
  • What troubleshooting steps have you already tried?

I look forward to your response, and if you have any other questions or concerns for me, please let me know!

Best regards,
Jeran

Hello, currently im away from home for health reasons so i can't check it again, i can cast from YouTube for example but not my screen, in order:

This issue started a couple months ago, out of nowhere, before I could cast properly.

My phone is android 11

This only happens when i want to cast my screen directly instead of an specific app

I tried all the steps that the help page gives, rebooting my phone, fabric reset the cromecast, changing the wifi and also uninstalling the home app and re-installing it, etc

Thank you for your help!

Hey there Kashi,

I'm sorry to hear you're not feeling well! No problem at all, here are a couple of things you can try when you get the chance again, I'll put the relevant information from the article below:

"Turn off "Power Saving Mode" on your Android device. Power Saving Mode can limit the processing power of your device which might affect the performance of the Cast Screen feature.

  • Important: The "Microphone" permission in the Google Play Services app needs to be turned on to successfully use the "Cast Screen / Audio" feature with Chromecast. If you don't have this permission turned on, the Cast Screen session will immediately disconnect after trying to connect.
    • To turn on microphone permissions:
      1. On your Android device, tap Settings  .
      2. Scroll down and tap Apps and then Google Play Services and then Permissions.
      3. Look for "Microphone" and slide the slider On  . "

Double-check those settings to make sure everything looks right, and if you still run into issues, please let us know! In the meantime, did you have any other questions or concerns we can address?

Best regards,

Jeran

I'm having the same issue. I can cast with individual apps and I can see my Google TV in the Google home app but when I try to mirror it just never does anything.

I have a mi 9t pro.

Android 11.

Sony x85j TV

Hi folks,

How's it going? Did those steps help?

Thanks,

Jennifer

I don't have another android device on which to try.  I'll have to wait for someone to come over who has one.

Restarting makes no difference.

Hi Webejosh,

Thanks for getting back to us. Aside from restarting your phone, have you also tried the suggested steps provided by Jeran? If you haven't yet, please try the steps while waiting for someone that you can borrow a device.

Thanks,

Jennifer

all permissions are on and there's no power saving mode activated

Hi there,

Thanks for checking that for us. Could you please confirm if casting from a Chromecast-enabled app is working? Try clearing the cache and data of your Google Home app then, reinstall it to see if it'll do the trick and check for software updates on your phone. It's best to have updated applications and OS for a seamless experience.

If possible, please use a different phone to rule out if this is a device specific issue.

Thanks,

Jennifer
