When trying to install the HBO Max app from the google play store it says “Your device isn’t compatible with this version”.
i have my chromecast updated to the latest version.
is there anything i can do to get the app running?

Not a solution but possible workaround. Have you tried casting HBO max from your phone?

Hey there TeoB197,
I'm just checking up on this thread, were you able to give Jch12's work-around a try?
Thank you for helping out on this thread, Jch12!
Best regards,

Yeah casting from the phone to chromecast works but that can’t be the Solution?

Hiya patrichinho,
In this scenario, I would double-check that your Chromecast is up-to-date on its firmware. Also, I would double-check this troubleshooting article provided by HBO Max and follow the instructions to see if that resolves the issue.
Best regards,
Jeran

Thx for your help. It seems like the issue is probably caused by the VPN I have to use as I'm currently traveling abroad for professional reasons. It seems like there is no way to get my Chromecast to download the HBO Max app even though the service works when I broadcast from my phone to the chromecast. Pretty annoying though

Hello there,
Thanks for the help here, Jeran and Jch12.
patrichinho, we hear you and we understand if you feel that way. Yes, you are right since the Chromecast devices don't support the use of VPN's, you may or may not be able to download an app on your device. I'd suggest you send feedback about this using the Google Home app. Here's how.
Let's us know if you have other questions and concerns.
Thanks,
Jennifer
