Can't see chromecast device on Home

Hi all,

Checked nearly all topics here, seems my issue is quite unique. I'm trying to set up Chromecast on an old LG smart tv. I followed all steps and managed to connect Chromecast to my wifi. However, when i open Home, and click on the chromecast device, the page opens that reads "Your device cant be found on this wifi network. Pls make sure your phone and chromecast are on the same network". They actually are, and all passwords are entered correctly. I have done rebooting, factory reset (by clicking the button on Chromecast device itself as i cant do it via Home since it doesnt cinnect to the chromecast), restarted my router, turned on and off wifi on phone, but nothing works. I tried to connect to the device via my wifi settings, but i dont see it in the available wifi networks. Anyone else faced similar problem? One other thing, i tried to set the same chromecast device in another house with different wifi. It worked smoothly, set up was easy, quick and didn't face any issues. Im now thinking may be i have issues with my router? Like, what settings i need to change potentially in it? Thanks for your attention and assistance in advance.

I had the same problem and what ultimately worked for me was to do the following on my new iPhone 13 Pro :

Settings/WiFi/click on your internet provider/scroll down to Private WifiAddresses and switch it off.
Everything now works w chrome cast and I’ve observed no adverse effects.

Thank you very much for your reply. I'm using Android and don't think we have such option in WiFi settings. I'll keep on looking for similar functionality, and hopefully it will help. Thanks again!

Hi folks,

Thanks for reaching out to the Chromecast Community!

Thanks for the help, Noobie.

Shakemm, I'm sorry to hear that you're having an issue with your Chromecast device. If the Chromecast was able to connect to a different Wi-Fi network, please check the settings in your router. If you're not familiar with it, please refer to your router's manual or contact your router manufacturer.

Here's the router settings that you need to check:

  • AP isolation/client isolation should be disabled.
  • UPnP should be enabled.
  • VPN should be disabled.
  • IGMP should be enabled.

Thanks,

Jennifer

Thank you very much, Jennifer! I'll definitely give it a try once back home. Hope that works! God bless you!
