Cannot add Chomecast Audio to Speaker Group

Hi,

I have three Chromecast Audio devices associated with my google home, all on the same wifi.  I'd like to create a Speaker Group so I can cast to them simultaneously, however when I navigate to + > Create Speaker Group, the only devices that appear are the Chromecast devices I have for streaming video to my TV.

I also tried creating a Group for one Chromecast, then navigated to Groups > (Speaker_Group_Name) >  Choose devices, but the Chromecast Audio devices still do not appear.

I can confirm the Chromecast Audio devices are switched on, visible on the network and I can cast to them individually just fine.

Any assistance would be welcome.

Hi JC258,

 

Thank you for reaching out. Are these speakers with built-in Chromecast or actual Chromecast Audio devices? Are you using a dual-band router? If so, which band are your devices connected to (2.4GHz,5GHz)?

 

You might want to check the firmware version of your Chromecast Audio devices (must be 1.56.281627) and make sure your phone’s OS is up-to-date. Also, try reinstalling the Google Home app to make sure you have the latest version. Keep me posted.

Hi, thanks for responding. The issue was with Google Chromecast audio. I worked with a Google support person. We had to reset the device a couple of times, then it worked ok.  It was odd, because the other ones worked first time.
