Hey Robert,

Piggy-backing off of what James said, usually when there is no cast destination, then it's most likely an issue with the network itself. Go ahead and give the following a try:
  • Try rebooting your Wi-Fi router by unplugging and plugging the power source.
  • Make sure that your Chromecast device and other devices are connected to the same network.
Along with those, check out this article on common Chromecast connection issues and make sure everything looks good on your end.

Let me know if that helps! If not, we can dig a little deeper, we're always happy to help.

JohnF, I've noticed that the Chrome Edge browser takes 1-2 minutes to populate its "Casting" tab with all the connected Google devices after browser is started (or re-started). The only devices that show immediately on the casting tab are Chromecast Video, Roku, and Sony DVD players; then after waiting 1-2 minutes all the connected Google devices (Chromecast Audio, Nest (mini and Hub) show up available for casting.

The MS Chromium browser in comparison populates ALL the devices available on its "casting" tab immediately after starting the browser. It too me a long time to discover this delay in detecting all the devices available and just to start the Edge browser soon after booting the PC, so I don't have to wait later when I go to casting from the browser. I've seen very little publicized about this Edge quirk, although many people seem to have problems seeing their devices available for casting on the Edge browser.

I prefer the Edge browser generally and it does use less system resources than MS Chromium so I don't mind keeping it running. But I wanted to let you know because it may be appropriate for this user's problem. I'm using Intel PC with Win10 and all latest drivers and updates. Everything working fine now that I've found how to wait for the cast tab to populate.

I'm new to the Nest online community, so I didn't want to jump in directly responding to users with problems in case I'm not responding appropriately to their problems.

Thanks,

RichC3

Thanks, Jeran. Having no problems, just have to wait for Edge browser to populate the casting icon with all the Google devices available. BUT I do have to say, I LOVE being able to cast Google Music playlists/albums especially to my home stereo setup using either Google Chromecast Audio or Chromecast (using adapter to separate the audio track). I'm constantly uploading portions of my LP, MP3 collection to Google Music Library for listening to any of eight smart speakers/hubs in my home. Just for fun, casting a 1940's Jack Benny program to a Chromecast adapted vintage tube-amplified radio is a real hoot (nostalgic, that is).

Thanks for you and the community for all your work and attention to users needs.

Of course! Thank you so much for the kind words, I really appreciate them! I'm glad to hear that you're having a smooth experience with casting and listening to your favorite music. I know I love being able to cast from my phone to the whole living room so that I can hear some Pink Floyd or David Bowie all around me!

In the meantime, I'll go ahead and lock up the thread. If you ever need help or have any questions in the future, feel free to create a new thread.

I hope you are doing well.

Best regards,

Jeran
