Casting to group of chromecasts starts at 100% volume rather than group volume setting

I have two chromecasts set up to run my outdoor speakers as two "zones" and I either play them together as a group or separately depending on what area is being used.  It's a great setup except for the fact that whenever I begin casting to the group the volume is casted at 100% rather than the volume showing on the group.  Once I open the group and click on the volume reel in the same spot that it is set at the volume goes down, proving to me that it was not casting at the volume shown.

I've seen  posts on reddit and on here saying that it is a known issue (or maybe feature) to start a casting at 100% volume.   I could see how that could make sense for a tv setting when your sitting right in front of it with your remote but in my case where I am just playing audio to a couple amp's outdoors I REALLY don't want it to play at 100% volume and have my neighbors hate me.  I don't understand why this could not be a setting that you can choose on the chromecast, or why when playing as a group it wouldn't default to the volume shown on the group rather than default to 100% without explanation or visual confirmation, this seems like a bug.

Hey there JaneDoe,

I am real sorry about the late response, thank you for being patient! I'd have to double-check with the engineering team, but starting a cast with the Chromecast at 100% volume may be an intended feature. If this is something you'd like to see changed in the future, I'd recommend that you submit feedback via the Google Home app to let Google know.

I am sorry I couldn't have been more help, but if you have any other questions or concerns for me, please let me know.

Best regards,
Jeran

No, thank you.  It looks like there is just no volume wheel available on the group anymore, which I guess keeps that state from happening but is unfortunate because being able to collectively change the volume on the group was handy.  Now when this happens I will have to go into every speaker/Chromecast in the group individually and fix the volume.

Of course, that sounds like that is a part of the recent announcement to speaker groups, you can read about the changes in this blog post here. It should provide you with a bit of insight with what happened.

Best regards,

Jeran
