Castplay on Kogan TV with inbuilt chromecast

SThomsy

Hello, I bought a Kogan TV with inbuilt chromecast and saw that to use the casting, I have to download castplayTV, is that correct. When i try to set it up by scanning the QR code to download the app on my IOS, it says that the app is not supported in my country. I am located in Australia. - just wanted to check if that is correct?

Hi SThomsy,

Awesome! Glad to hear that resetting your TV resolved the issue. In the meantime, do you still have other questions and concerns?

Best,

Jennifer

Hi SThomsy,

Thanks for reaching out. If you would like to set up your TV with built-in Chromecast, you need to download the Google Home app on your mobile phone and make sure your phone or tablet is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your Chromecast built-in TV. Check out this support website article to learn more about setting up a TV with Chromecast built-in.

Thanks,

Jennifer

Hi Jennifer,

thanks for following up

Is it possible to cast from laptop to TV with chrome cast built in? When I tried to cast from my laptop, only audio works but display doesn’t. I try to reinstall the chrome at app on the android tv but still doesn’t work. Any other troubleshooting steps I should follow?

Kind Regards,
Sandra

Hello SThomsy,

Yes, you should be able to cast a tab or desktop using a laptop or computer to your TV with built-in Chromecast. See here how

However, if you're having trouble casting from your laptop, try the suggested steps below:

  1. Make sure you're using a Chrome browser and it's updated.
  2. Ensure that your laptop's OS version is updated.
  3. Check the proximity of your TV to your laptop and Wi-Fi router.
  4. Reboot your TV, Wi-Fi router, and laptop.
  5. Disconnect and reconnect the laptop from the Wi-Fi network.
  6. Check if your laptop has a power saving setting. If it's enabled, disable it.
  7. Try to use a different casting device (phone, tablet, or another computer) to isolate the issue.
  8. Reset your TV. (Please contact your TV manufacturer to do this step).

Thanks,

Jennifer
