Chrome cast keeps rebooting and going through installation.

I recently bought my chrome cast. It worked great for a couple of days and then it started “searching for accessories” and keeps on rebooting. I am not sure why. I read that maybe I needed to plug directly to the wall. I did that and still not working. Is it defective? What can I do to make it work?
