Chrome cast with google TV not able to connect to internet

Bach

I'm trying to set up the new Chrome cast with TV to my old Sony TV(KDL-40W4500 ) (not smart tv) but failed to connect to wifi/internet.  I have already 2 Google home max connected on the same network. Following are the steps I followed so far.

  • Able to connect the chrome cast to my phone.

Issue is setting up the wifi:

  • Setup with Google home on Android phone. Error: Connection problem during setup.
  • Manual setup using the remote on the chromecast. Error : Cannot connect to the internet.
  • Disabling 2.4 GHZ band and only connected to 5 GHZ.
  • Tried all three HDMI ports.

Any help is appreciated.

Thank you

Before spending time doing anything else, do a factory reset of the Chromecast and try one more time to connect to the internet once that is done.  Also make sure your 5ghz channel is LOWER than 149 , as there are issues with higher channels currently.

Dear Ashepherdson,

Thank you very much for the reply. I was able to finally resolve the issue. I had to update a few settings in my firewall and all the functionality started to work like a charm.

Thank you again.
