Chromecast 3

I've tried all the recommnded steps. At first use, Chromecast 3 worked, Since then, always no picure, just sounsd and captions. My TV is old - over 10 years. Samsing Smart TV.  I think it's best to return the recently bought Chromecast 3 to the seller.

Did you unplug the Chromecast, not from the HDMI port but from the power port as well?  Have you unplugged the power from your tv?

Thank you, Asheherdson.  Yes several times -  unplugged from power both TV andChromecast.   I have put days into this.  I now have the Chromcast packed up - ready for posting to the seller.   Infact, I bought a Chromecast 3 for my granddaughter in the coutry. It will be interesting tosee if hers works -  probably ona newer TV?

Thanks for this reply.  It is good to get an answer -     more really, than actually resolving things.

I followed it up via  the developer    info@video-tv-cast.com   

hoping that I could reinstall the online chromecast app. I wrote them a long explanation - got no reply.  I concluded that they have put the matter  in the permanent ''too hard basket'' -   and they found it easiest to just not reply.

 
i take a philosophical view -   the Chromecast3 is not very expensive.    I did a lot of research on the Internet, and concluded that the device probably works well for some people, but quite a lot of people find that they get the sound, but not the picture.    I conclude that this is a drawback -  perhaps it works better with some types of TV and not others.
 
I had sent the same Chromecast3 device to my 14 year old granddaughter in the country.  I need to find out if she can get hers working. If we weren't in lockdown, I'd have gone up and investigated.  Meanwhile, I've sent her a long HDMI cable - she can use that to view stuff on her TV from her laptop.
 
Meanwhile, I have told the seller Officeworks that I need to send it back. They say they will pick it up from me - but everything is delayed, they say, as we remain in strict Covid-19 lockdown,here in Melbourne.
 
I can't see this being resolved - except to just send back devices, cut my losses, and use HDMI cable.
